Hi guys,
I decided to do a playtrough again but this time i took a warrior archer.
Yes i know maybe it is worse than rogue archer but i like it.
I got some questions though, what "modes" should i keep on in fights? Right now i got precise striking and aim on (yes really low attack speed). Are there any suggestions what to use and keep on?
Thanks in advance
The Warrior Archer

Edited to stop a flame war:
Increase your attack speed. Increase your chance of criticals. There is some nice equipment out there.
That is all.

I think Aim is too slow unless you have reapeater gloves or did they patch that? Anyway I don't use it. I just get a rapid aim bow. Don't know what modes to use. As a warrior archer it's fun to tank.

A few suggestions:
1) Don't use precise striking, it doesn't increase your ranged critical chance.
2) If damage dealing is your priority, you need to increase your critical chance; for that Shale with Rock Mastery sustained, and a high cunning rogue with Song of Courage are must.
3) If you use the above mentioned party set-up, you need to remain inside the Rock Mastery aura of Shale to gain the critical chance benefit. As such, Shale's not going to tank and will remain close to you. The fourth member should(or may) therefore be a tanking arcane warrior.
4) Using 'Sorrows of Arlathan' and Shale's 'Rock Mastery' will give you -2.0 attack speed. Therefore, keep aim on all the time and attack at maximum speed. There's also the 'Repeater Gloves' which you might have patched or may not. Just do the Maths and keep aim time to 0.
5) As a warrior, you'll have 'Blood Thirst', so +10 critical chance. The depleting health won't be a problem if you remain at range. If you are still uneasy, you have 'Lifegiver' and 'Berserker' for health regen.
5) Aim essentially doubles crit chance. So activate 'Rock Mastery', 'Blood Thirst' and 'Song of Courage' first, then turn on Aim.
6) Don't use 'haste' or 'swift salve', they are bugged and will in turn increase ranged attack speed.
7) Equip 'The long Sight' for +5 crit chance, and 'Longbowman's Belt' for +2.
8) Keep Shale's behaviour to 'Defensive' and set her tactics accordingly, otherwise she'll just move away from you, rendering the 'Rock Mastery' bonus useless.
9) With a ranged crit chance in the 70's and 80's, all you'll need to do is autoattack, and situationally, use Scattershot, Arrow of Slaying, and Shattering Shot. Regardless of what the description says, scattershot can actually deal crit damage to the secondary targets.
10) So basically, you just need to keep 'Aim' and 'Blood Thirst' sustained on your warrior warden, 'Song of Courage' on your rogue and 'Rock Mastery' on Shale.
Hope this helps.

The last post by Blazomancer covers it very well.
The only thing I would add would be to consider where and when you intend to use the character as an archer. I like to use archers to fight dragons, so when I build a warrior archer I like to have only a select few archer talents -- Aim, Critical Shot, Arrow of Slaying, and sometimes Master Archer. All the other talent points go into the Warrior build. But this goes with the way I use the warrior archer. Mostly as a warrior, and only as an archer in particular fights (dragons, etc.)
Only other thing I can think of is that archery talents require a certain amount of dexterity points -- 34 is probably enough. But 34 is required to equip the top-tier bows.

Thanks for all the reactions.
I still have 1 though, i'am try to somehow figure out a tactic to activate berseker mode when the battle starts with his 2h weapon than switch to his bow.
Is this even possible to do with tactic slots? I haven't figured it out though.
Thanks in advance

Can you show us how you have his tactics set? Might help us to see what might be causing that to happen.

That is because the behaviour is set to ranged; the character will always swap to ranged weapons in the end, even in exploration.

Might also be that an attacking enemy is triggering a tactic to cause the weapon swap. I'm sort of guessing here, but a tactic like: if enemy is using ranged attack, switch to bow and fire scattershot.
If that makes any sense....

I posted my tactics, but still even without ranged mode it doesnt work.
I guess it's just bugged or something.

Okay, sorry. Wasn't sure what that link was about, so I didn't go there.
I have looked at it now. So...
Tactics can be sort of tricky. The simpler they are, the better. I'd say that unless you are actually controlling the character, it is best to not switch weapon sets.
My advice would be to set the tactics either as warrior or as archer.
I don't know if you are using Leliana's songs or mage talents for the benefits that go with them, but each time the character swaps weapons those may need to be re-applied to work. So that is something to consider.

I think you issue is that you have weapons switching back to set 1 if ally health is >=90%.
IIRC the tactics continually roll. That means that even though tactic 4 only fires when you are exploring, tactic 5 fires anytime ally health >=90%.
I would recommend moving the situation for tactic 4 to tactic 5, that should keep you from switching weapons mid fight.

This may work:
1. Self: Exploration -> Behaviour: Default
2. Self: Exploration -> Switch to melee weapons
3. Self: Combat -> Activate: Berserk
4. Self: Berserk -> Behaviour: Ranged
