Just make DA3 like Skyrim

Skyrim is only better in having bigger world, better character creator and graphic. In other aspects DA:O is superior.

DA:O and Skyrim are both amazing and fine games, and as long as the final product entertains me, I don't care about the design of DA3.

But skyrim doesn't have voice or a dialogue wheel so it will need innovating before it can come up to Biowares standards
Don't forget the Awesome Button.
Which never existed, so this "joke" is bloody pathetic. And I'll take the bloody Button Of Awesome over thousands of glitches, bland VO acting, pathetic choices and ludicrous "companions" and "romance". DAII is not a button masher, it wasn't even when Auto-Attack was not patched.

The problem with Skyrim is the fact that the Elder Scrolls universe is unfathomably boring. There's so much to do, but nothing is worthwhile and every plot is a forced fantasy cliché we've seen a million times already. Contrast Fallout, which stands on a very unique and interesting foundation. Bethesda still managed to make FO3 kind of lame, but I got over 400% more time out of FO3 than Oblivion and Skyrim combined. That's not mentioning New Vegas, which I still play religiously with over twice my FO3 hours due to Obsidian's extremely strong writing.SpunkyMonkey wrote...
DA:2 was a pretty painful experience, but Skyrim was certainly no fun either. Skyrim's far greater asthetics at least kept me interested longer, but as a game it was so, so, so, souless and dull.

Most of the problems people mention here in case of Skyrim are already solved with mods, f.e. intelligent follower with a developing friendship and dynamic dialoque. It is your problem if you buy the game on console or don't use the mods. They are since many years the core of the Elder Scrolls series.
DA:O and Skyrim are both amazing and fine games, and as long as the final product entertains me, I don't care about the design of DA3.
The point is I should not have to use mods to solve the problems or errors of the game. That is the designer's responsibility. I see using mods to enhance or add to what the designer did but not to fix the problems the designer left.

Skyrim is a game that requires you to have mods to get the most out of it. It appears DA3 will lack modding tools.

Over exaggerating much? It's funny how people don't mention quests like Blood on Ice, The forsworn Conspiracy, Thief Guild quests, or that quests can be completed without killing anyone.Gabey5 wrote...
Skyrim side quests where " i forgot my frog in the cave on the other side of the map, fight 20 skeletons and i will reward you with a wheel of cheese". That to me is not even remotely interesting, i prefer caring about the quest giver at least a bit. Give him or her a bit of a story and some good acting.

On one hand, I enjoyed the system and would like to see a deeper system like this in the DA games, I would caution against making it so overpowered. Being able to smith the most powerful weapons and armor by level 15 and then being able to enchant that gear as being more powerful than any but the most unique plot items is kind of weak.
I'd like to see a crafting mechanism that let's you craft equipment based on materials, but the materials have both bonuses and detriments. For instance, chain mail gives a bonus to piercing weapons, but slows attack speed, or leather armor increases sneak and critical hit stats, but has a penalty to heavy weapons.
And I liked the way DA does enchanting, with runes being placed on equipment, but I think it would be better if instead of runs stones, you would bring your enchanter runs drawings hey would learn, and then could be applied to equipment as many times (with a cost of both money and ingredients). But each piece of equipment could only be enchanted a certain number of times, and runes could never be erased.
Just some ideas.

No.
Bethesda RPGs: Huge, open world environments. Memorable environments, factions, scenery.
BioWare RPGs: Deep, memorable, and relatable characters, vivid and complex storytelling. Well, spare *cough*
Point is, stop going against the grain here. Do what you do best, what your fans expect you to do.
Not what other studios are doing. Trying to make DA3 Skyrim 0.5 would be
1.) Sacrificing your game's identity
2.) Making more subpar.
Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to have more memorable factions. The only faction in BioWare games that ever had real significance or identity was Cerberus.

Exactly. People also forget that alot of the side quests in DA2 were pretty much the same stuff too. "Ohh look. I found a scarf. This has to belong to Matilda`s, a person I have never seen before, husband. I am pretty sure she hangs out near the chantry. I should bring it to her for a reward. Not much story involved in those quests, and very little acting.

What I'd like to see is a nice mix of DA:O & DA2 with a tad more creativity, a few more interesting romance options and each map to be different from the last/next. I'd also like to keep the combat from DA2 without the constant button mashing. Oh, and someone adorable like Alistair wouldn't be badly received either. Oh, and a horse to get me from A to B.
Thaaaaaaaanks.

Here's something to learn from Skyrim: making a world more immersive by adding small details to the environment. That doesn't mean making the game open-world or taking party members out of the game. Dragon Age should still primarilly be Dragon Age, but there are cool things about Skyrim's environments, exploration and region-specific architecture that could positively impact DA3's design.
Great point!
I'd love to see more storytelling through the environments. I think DA:O was a bit stronger than DA2 in this area.
