Regardless ME3 swallowed upwards of 6 months of my life cycle, that is a win for bioware definately. Although i sadly belive the next ME installment we get will not go live until we have shiny new next gen consoles.

I'm not a MP player, but mass effect 3 kept me captivated for a long time with their MP. I only beat the single player once, was not a fan of the ending because it felt like a huge slap in the face to the fans. I understand "artistic integrity" but promises were made and broken, and fans don't usually appreciate that. With that being said those who say that borderlands is a "MP" game don't really understand it at all. Certainly it has co-op and alot of people will play that, but I personally beat the single player campaign of borderlands one twice, it was that much fun, even though I knew the ending sucked. Second game is said to be bigger and upwards to 60 hrs per playthrough depending on how many side missions one does. So that means that not only will those casual fans of ME MP will find something they want, but also the fans of SP experience. I don't think borderlands will kill ME MP, but it will certainly hurt it. At this point Bioware is keeping servers going becuase they are making money off micro transactions, but once this dries up so will the servers, if Bioware cannot make money off MP they will stop it, and fairly quickly.
Most of the people I see talking about Borderlands, talk about the MP and never quote the SP, that's why I reference to it as a MP game, I really don't have idea how much SP it have...

What OP says is pretty much how the MP for Assassin's Creed is. AC Brotherhood was the first MP I'd ever played and I kept playing it until AC Revelations came out, despite playing plenty of games in between at the same time. Revelations is the same way, with AC3 right around the corner there are still tons of players. Mass Effect's first two games were also single player only, and it also wasn't until the third game that series fans were introduced to its multiplayer. I don't know what the timeline is for the next Mass Effect game, but this MP can easily last a full year, regardless of what comes out during that time.
I'm playing Brotherhood right now ^^ didn't tried the MP yet, there's any chance I will still find people playing it? I will buy revelations next time it get a discount on Steam..

WiiU ME3 is not even out yet, official support must continue at least for a while after WiiU ME3 is released.

There are people who spend thousands of real dollars in this game`s MP. Although EA has authority to shut down ME3 MP server, decision cannot be made so easily when there are people who spent that much money for the ride.
You think that will stop them it wont they already have the money why should they care what happens to all the stuff you spent it on this is EA the WORST company in the world we are talking about here

It won`t stop anything, but it can be the reason to delay the server shutdown.
If the game has no shop system and MP was just additional free service for game owners, they definitely won`t hesistate shuting down the server when the time comes.
But when there are people who already spent thousands of additional dollars, even EA must consider shuting server down more carefully.

Very few people on ACB right now, especially on PC, and only in specific modes. You'll find matches in ACR, but if you have to pay extra for online I wouldn't bother since AC3 is coming out at the end of October and the majority of the MP player base will go to that game.LeandroBraz wrote...

I'm mostly an SP player, I played Borderlands... it was fun enough, but not really engaging. There's just enough plot to sort of make you keep going, mostly (I guess it depends on what drives you). I described it to a friend as something I could pick up, play for a few minutes, shoot some stuff, and then shut it down again. Or try and loot guns over and over again in New Haven or crimson whatever (you think FBWGG is dull, try New Haven loot farming). Problem is, this is what I spent my time doing, because I can get a little OCD about trying to get that perfect RNG weapon... just one more run...
I also played the coop multiplayer (It was a pre-order for me, so I was playing it on day one)... and one of the first things that happened was that my SP campaign got corruped by someone's hacked crap when I joined their match (probably only a PC problem). I had a backup, but it was sort of annoying. At least with the ME3 multiplayer, you can't get your SP campaign screwed up by the MP.
So I never finished the single player, until a friend of mine picked up the GOTY steam version for like $5, and started going through... I dusted off my old Lilith and joined her to help the game along... I eventually finished the SP playthrough after helping her level up for a while.... and I promptly uninstalled it again.
Sorry to get so off topic.

CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 2
HALO 4
MULTIPLAYER!
I'm into all of those things. Been a mp fan since I first got Xbox live. I'll still be playing ME3 MP (not as much of course) as time stretches on.
I see your point, though. Mass Effect fans started off as Single player fans anyway. I know that's what I played Mass Effect for. Honestly, I was skeptical of the MP before I tried the Demo.

Most of the players was skeptical into the demo, Bioware really surprised with this MP.

It will desperately cling to life as it bleeds out more and more members of the community until finally it collapses in a pool of it's own bodily wastes.

For those who think that there is a difference in Borderlands by playing it sp or mp, there isn't. The best comparison will be that you play the ME3 story , but instead of two AI players, two of your friends are playing with you, either playing with Liara, Ashley etc. That's how Borderlands play. It's a coop game, which you also can play all by yourself, but the fun start when you play it with 3 friends, all with a different character.
LovedME3's mp since the demo, but will play it a lot less when Borderlands 2 is released. No offence; just being honest.

I would consider myself a die-hard ME3 MP fan, but unfortunately I've stopped playing. Why? EA servers...
Yeah this is what I was thinking too. I don't see another game being the end of ME3 MP but more likely ME3 MP being it's own demise. With each DLC that has been released it has brought more bugs, glitches, exploits with it while the old stuff still hasn't been fixed. Each person has a breaking point and if things stay as they are then it is only a matter of time before each reaches that point.

It's fun and all, but once you max out the ranks and get all the guns in this case, it is no longer fun for most people.
Only the die-hard fans still play it, and it takes like 30 minutes to find a decent match, and like 2 hours to find a U/U/P game.
