Well Mark Darrah said "We’ve started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this."

I'm no expert on game engines - is there anyway they could have moved over to FB3 during development?

If I am remembering my computer knowledge it should be realitively easy if its designed for it in the first place for computer systems are designed in layers you have the Hardware layer, the Operation System layer, and the Application layer.  In old computers.  In older operating systems such as Windows 98 the application layer would communicate directly to the hardware layer, but since Windows 2000 all games must access the hardware through the operating system layer.  If games work like that all BioWare has to make sure is that the tools they are developing are interchangable at the operating system and application layers.  Since its probably just an updated engine instead of a full blown new game engine I can't see it being too difficulty especially if they have been getting status updates on the engines development.

Frostbite 2 pretty much grew into Frostbite 3, and yeah we get regular code drops from Frostbite team. In fact we're currently integrating one this week.

This week? Big one? Small one? This won't really tell us anything, but I'm curious nonetheless. :P

Does frostbite 3 support any sort of real-time hair rendering like TressFX in Tomb Raider? Everyone having solid helmets for hair is kind of crappy.

I wish I knew more technical stuff about these types of things. Mostly because I'm wondering what exactly has been upgraded in the new engine. I saw the trailer for Battlefield 4 and it just looks like BF3 to me.

Same here. People are so excited about it and I'm just like '...yay?'.
That and I have bigger worries than whether the graphics look shiny or not.

Me too.  I was also surprised at how quick they're rolling out BF4, given that BF3 came out in Octobber, 2011.  That makes BF3 less than two years old, which to me seems like they're putting it out pasture before its time.

Last I checked, DX11 is backwards compatible with DX 10.  The two are very
similar, with DX11 have a few features that DX 10 doesn't, but nothing
major.

It's not and has never been backwards compatible. If you use any DX11 function, then you have to have the hardware to run. A GTX260 is never going to be able to tesselate, for example.

Hell, I just hope it'll be on 360 and PS3, cannot afford any fancy next gen systems on my budget...

What I mean is, if you have DX10 hardware (or software, if someone is running Vista) then DX11 downgrades to DX10.  You miss out on some features, but that's about it.

At least, it's compatible according to Microsoft.  They built DX10 and 11, so they probably know what they're talking about.
