Good, I guess. At least it's not Unreal Engine again.

This will be a nice buy for 30 bucks (Used) I plan to stay true to never buying a bioware game new again

Good luck trying to get out of the online pass.

If it's going to be heavily focused on online I won't buy it at all.
And if it is an online mode like ME3 then I don't really care.

KoA didn't have mp and it still had an online pass.

Then I will just get an online pass. I work at a videogame store and you'd be surprised about how many people trade in games with unused online passes.

Or if everything else fails, I'll just download the game and the aditional content on PC. I couldn't care less about supporting Bioware. I don't care about developes that don't care about me as a consumer.

ooohohohooo booooy. Everything we know of DA3 indicates that the best of DA:O, Skyrim, and Witcher will have their best parts glued together. ME3 and DA2 says otherwise. This could very well be the best game in gaming history ever. Can't wait to see Ferelden, the spells, ogres and Leliana with the new engine

Can someone give me an example of a game that's run the Frostbite engine?

Battlefield 3 would be the flagship for Frostbite 2. In previous iterations of the engine you had Bad Company 2 and Need For Speed: The Run. NotBioware's upcoming Command and Conquer game will also use it. I can't imagine adapting it for an RPG would be a monumental task.

I think the next Army of Two game is using Frostbite 2 as well. Basically, it seems EA wants every one of their studios using some derivation of Frostbite.

I'm really curious to see how the Dragon Age world will look like with the new engine. I can only hope that it will be gorgeous.

It nice to hear that Bioware are listening to the fans but the reality is the EA suits design the game.

Yay! New Engine!

That was number one on my DA3 wish list. And it seems I'll have to make a new avatar now...

Well it would cut back on licensing costs, and make cross-platform development easier as the next-gen consoles are essentially going to be DX11 boxes, just as the Xbox360 was a DX9 box.

BioWare isn't known for their technical prowess. A game engine is only as good as it's programmers. Skyrim is still at the top in terms of scale. The graphics are incredible for such a huge game. Witcher 2 is incredible with the smaller details, but lacks scale.

DA3's direction competiton will be WItcher 2. I don't think it will even look as good as the Xbox version. Call me cynical.

That makes sense.  And I'm sure it's easier than just dumping the old engine and creating a new one from scratch.  I don't know much about how game engines work, tbh.  But I do know the old one felt kinda clunky.

Wonder how long its going to be before it actually comes out??

I am guessing spring 2013, Bioware seems to like launching titles around March.

late 2013... would mean  either fall  or winter, which would make if xbox/ps4 doesnt get delayed as next a gen game sinc they stated  late 2013 as well

They want to leverage the technology to save money. EA isn't using frostbite for any of their sports titles, or their sims titles.

Frostbite 2 powers Battlefield 3, and Medal of Honor Warfighter, amongst other games.

Although it'd be flippin' sweet if they did.

Mmmmm

• No support for Windows XP or DirectX 9; DX10 will be supported but the engine is intended for DX11 graphics cards.

Gentleman upgrade your PC engines! :D

WiiU and PS4 won't be DX11 boxes.

And with Microsoft more focused on ads and kinect than actual games I'm not sure they will lead multiplatform development again, ask Sony if success and being the "de facto" platform carries over to a next gen.

Spoiler: It doesn't.

The next Xbox will be DX12.

So maybe theres a chance for PC gamers to have better products(games) that are aimed for pc in the future than usual :wizard:
