Because there's no real reason for the Venatori to keep them alive. The prospects are grim but I don't see them killing two companions just like that.

Neither do I. That's quite early in the game, I really doubt they're dead. Why don't we wait for better footage/an actual understanding on the scenario first? Any word when the HD of the demo is supposed to drop?

I also don't see them showing something like that in a demo four months before the release of the game.

I hope that's the case! I'd love it if the followers were more substantial to the plot. And, seriously, do we know his name yet?! It's getting frustrating 

I'm afraid we don't know DHMG's name yet. Heck, he's gotten more screen time than some other named companions, and we don't even know who he is. 

I do agree with you about the companions being more important. Some companions in previous titles felt like they had no real purpose to be with the hero, more like sellswords than anything, so I'm hoping everybody has a healthy role in the story this time around.

It could also be something bugged they haven't gotten around to fixing yet, aside from the weird visual aspects ("beard", weaponless") she's also stiff and seems to be pushed by the Venatori guy's line of movement. She may have fallen in the previous battle and the auto res mechanic hasn't been implemented/isn't working (if they are even doing that this game.)

I wonder if its a case of having to choose one companion over another as you advance the story. If you can end the game with only 1, then it's quite possible.

 

The context of 'you can end the game with just 1 companion' was in regards to companions leaving because of your decisions, so we might be jumping to conclusions here.

How do you know that tho? Didn't they just fight a guy with like 9999 health? Doesn't seem like an early level fight.

Not that it means necessirily something, but i think the party was at level 7'in the demo. It shouldn't be end game stuff.

 

1) It's set up for a demo. They did not legitimately play through the game to get to that point in the story. Don't take the level shown to mean anything at all.

 

2) What you're seeing will very much make sense when you play the game.

But you get a "Codex entry: Mage" from killing Alexius so, it can't be that far into the game.
 

 

They fight a Dragon though, and specifically say that Dragons are late game content.

Not that it means necessirily something, but i think the party was at level 7'in the demo. It shouldn't be end game stuff.

 

I seriously doubt they would show end-game content in a demo.

 

I think this is when Dorian is recruited, or maybe a companion quest or something? Those two men had a similar outfit design as him...maybe they are all magisters, but he turns against them for some reason (or vice versa), and wants to stop them. So he goes to the Inquisition for help and joins up in the meantime.

They didn't even have the same party in these two instances. These scenes they're showing aren't necessarily in linear, chronological order.

Like LittleBird said tweeting is better, or taking it to the Keep thread.  That said they've already said the Keep won't be revealed at E3 and it won't be open to everyone until about a month before the game.
