The Dragon Age Twitter Thread

While I understand the enthusiasm, when a misunderstanding starts getting its own posts repeating the misunderstanding, it starts to become misinformation.
Given that people come here to see some of the tweets that people share, this can be dangerous. Now we could probably change how this thread works, but I am not sure if that would help any as the speculation would just move elsewhere. But is there any way we can reconcile something like this?

That doesn't help- speculations will be in another themes. Unless you ask your team not to write in twitter any more.
I have no control over what others do but it does put me on edge. :\

I suggest developers just say who is in our party - this will calm people, no more speculations and seiges in twitter.
HAHAHAHAHA *cough* *cough*
In my experience, there is no question that can be answered without prompting at least three more really urgent questions that must be clarified right now.
We know fans are excited and want every question answered, even this many months before release. We know they feel like those questions will never be answered if they're not answered right now. We know that some fans will feel that, if we don't answer them, it must be because we dislike the fan personally or have something against fans in general. We may get mildly annoyed at it from time to time, but that's hardly the end of the world, and it's really nothing new.

GUYS. Stahp. Gaider was using that line of dialogue as an example. There isn't necessarily any feature that they have announced that is cut. But if you really want to speculate, can it be taken to another thread? Maybe a "Let's jump to conclusions" thread?
I'm mostly amused that things went from "this is the time of the project where I must cut things" to "I have cut really enormous things the fans already know about".
Like you suggest, I only meant to point out that something having been mentioned publicly would hardly stop us from cutting it, if it needed cutting. Early on in the dev cycle, we were trying to only mention things we were certain were going to make it into the final game...but we don't have crystal balls. Unexpected things happen, and the only way to avoid mentioning some things that eventually get cut would be to hardly talk about the game at all.
Insofar as the chatter goes, I'm almost at the point where I think the Twitter thread might need to go. It doesn't really seem to serve the purpose of informing anyone of what's being said on Twitter insomuch as "talk about things that were maybe mentioned on Twitter"...for which we have an entire forum and don't need a dedicated single thread.

A solution might be to close this thread, post a new one and only allow tweets to be posted. We can discuss the tweets elsewhere.
If we allow people to post to such a thread, people will discuss the tweets.
I dunno. If people want to read tweets, they could just join Twitter. It's a thing they could do. I'm certain that, if anything major comes up there, it will still be posted about here. We don't need a 1200-page thread for it.

It was David, he got a bit mad at all of that chatter so I believe he unpinned it. If we just play it cool, he might repin it soon.
There's nothing wrong with a chatter thread. I simply don't think we need a stickied chatter thread--the Twitter thread was originally created as a place people could go to see what was being tweeted, as that was really the only info around at the time. I think its purpose as a dedicated sticky thread has more or less passed.

The issue is more to do with people jumping to conclusions and the thread filling up with misinformation being declared as confirmed facts, and then people coming into this thread and then getting inundated with more misinformation, asking about it, and spreading it to other threads.
Also of note, you can subscribe to a topic (top of page, on the right) and you'll be notified when it is updated. (A lot of people have done this).

Gotcha. Thanks for pointing it out. Sad panda because I liked being able to find all the tweets in once place and now that it isn't stickied there is going to be more chatter, making it hard to find the tweets.
I don't think it's status as sticky has any real bearing on whether or not there will be chatter in the thread. Part of the reason for destickying it was that there was a lot of chatter, including speculation (and outright misunderstandings) being cited as fact and spreading to the rest of the forum as a "legit source."

Bon voyage to @feliciaday & @annieliuliu who visited our studio to hang out and see #DAI. Our team admires Felicia's passion as a creator!
- So it doesn't look as though she was there to do VO work...
I asked Mike and he made it sound like she just wanted to visit and get a tour, presumably because she's a fan. Stuff like this does happen with a lot of people, it's just that Felicia is more publicly well known so there's a degree of notoriety.
I had a serendipitous introduction with her as she got into the elevator I was in. Was certainly not on the list of "things I was expecting to happen today." Chatted briefly during lunch, and unsurprisingly she seems pretty nice and was excited about the game.

She's actually appearing at the Calgary Comic-Con, so she probably just swung up to Edmonton on a side trip.
That does make the most sense. I'm not attending the Con this year, but the timing is pretty convenient.

Does that mean anyone could get a tour??? I would love one but im in Australia...
I'd recommend touching base with someone so that they could plan ahead somewhat. I was in LA on holiday, and went and visited Obsidian Entertainment simply by touching base with one of their designers. Fortunately schedules lined up and it was pretty cool! ![]()

i'm sure those dev diaries are still coming out soon, they just had to reshoot some parts and then of course re-edit.
So don't count 'em out just yet!

David's just a writer being asked on his personal twitter account whats going on with follower fridays. I doubt he has any control over what ends up actually happening today or whether he even knows if its still going to happen.
That is correct.

Just as a note, here's a challenging aspect for tweets. I intentionally try to be playful on them. I get the impression most people have fun back and appreciate having light hearted banter with devs. I like it because I find it fun... and I like having fun with various aspects of the fans.
So there's a bit of a challenge, because I do also recognize that people follow me because I work for BioWare, and people may consider things I say to be more authoritative than other tweets.
If people are going to consider me a poor representative of the company (or unprofessional) because I try to have fun with the fanbase, it means that I wouldn't tweet. It'd actually likely mean that I *couldn't* tweet. At least not with my current account, because I'm followed as a rep for BioWare.
Unless it's coming right from the actual BioWare account (and even then....), it's important to recognize that you may not have full context of a response I make to a particular person tweeting. I also have no problems saying that it's probably the same for David, and other BioWare posters. Now it's fine if you think that we should be strictly professional and not make tweets that could be possibly interpreted negatively, but recognize that this will come at a cost to fans (and devs) that enjoy having this type of interaction.

I really don't know why it is problem to say follower's name and give a screenshot.
Based on David Hulegaard's comments, I get the impression that it's something that he does mostly on his own.
(This is just a guess)

Or doesn't do.
Hey ohhhh!
I know David was also working on the new website, was recently married, and also recently relocated to Edmonton....
According to his tweets he also was crunching over Easter weekend... (evidently the forward facing marketing types also crunch....)

Allan is about as lightside as you can get.
While I'm sure there's a reason, BioWare has a habit of doing things like this.
I still have my Mass Effect 'decoder' program, which was going to be part of a special community event they spent a month talking about... and then they suddenly went quiet and never brought it up again.
Fair enough. You could probably point to the dev diaries as well.
While I understand that people had high anticipation for it because they're excited and eager - leading to disappointment when the anticipation goes unfulfilled - it seems more like a reminder that we probably just shouldn't commit to schedules for marketing deliverables. Had we just released Vivienne's information with no other commitments, and then released another companion on say, the 29th, it really sounds like there'd be less disappointed people with really no downside.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the devs have been known to deny something flat out, even as they knew it was in the game. I'm talking of course about the races reveal, when some devs insisted there would only be one race almost to the very day in which it was revealed there would be three.
Now, personally I do not believe Nevarra and the FM would be in the game, but I can see why other people would suspect otherwise (even though I think they are prepping themselves for disappointment).
The races came in as a result of the time extension. For the vast bulk of the discussion regarding races, human was the only one and was so until we learned we were getting another year on the game.
But yeah, if we've communicated it one way and we get new news that changes that, I won't change how that is communicated until it's been officially announced.
