Looks like EA international marketing has a different idea about videos then EA America.
All those little videos on EA Japan (which are now private), I wonder when they'll be shown off.

@CIA: Oh, trust me. I've seen those sites multiple times. I still can't tell the difference.
And that's what I meant. Youtube and Twitch are capped at 30 and the game looks fine.
because you aren't controlling the character /facepalm
Anyway, I hope they fix it in a day 1 patch or something

I'm just saying I've never noticed 30 fps as being particularly distracting. Lower than that, maybe. But I've never though anything higher looked significantly better, either.

@CIA : Right you are... your also not controlling them in a conversation. I agree theres no reason for conversations to be frame locked at 30, seems kinda silly. But at the same time the vast majority of those conversations are done with your face, plastered in the same place on the screen. We're talking 60 FPS mouth movements here for jebus sake. If a games going to cap anything to 30 FPS (for whatever bizar reason)... BioWare conversation is probably the one place it really, truly, doesn't matter at all.
-edit-
Though if I had to come up with a reason it might be due to how they implemented such conversations that where never a base part of the Frostbite Engine. Theres also apparently a problem (maybe fixed by launch) that seems to cause delays before you can select a response.

I meant the twitch/youtube screens, not the websites, but you are right it's better to experience 60fps rather than see it in a video. As I said I feel happy for you if you can't tell the difference, it's the main reason I'm holding off on getting a next gen console

You are correct, but it would be oddly jarring to go from a silky smooth 60fps battle to a choppy 30fps dialogue scene. And there is an enormous difference when it suddenly changes between the two.
In addition, the Inquisition dialogue is done Skyrim-style in real time, not like the Mass Effect/DA2 style. This means you'll just be running along, talk to a peasant and it'll go to 30fps

i"m pretty sure only the cinematic dialogue would be capped.

@CIA : It doesn't cap that stuff. It caps the cinematic stuff, including dialog stuff involved with that. The 'Skyrim style' conversations aren't capped. Considering how still you are, and how little panning camera movements there are in said cinematic conversations I doubt it'll be an issue. Though like I said, I think it should be whatever your PC can run at. 30 doesn't really come out 'chopping' except in large camera movements (like panning around). Running in a straight line, or just watching combat is less of a issue... and you know, non excessive blurring can smooth out the panning.
Either way, I think the most jarring switch to 30 on PC would ultimately be the actual cutscene non-conversation stuff. Since that has a tendency to involve a bit more moving of the camera. Either case, I don't consider 30 choppy though I can easily tell the difference.

and that'll be the last post on FPS since people will just ****** about this extremely general thread it being off topic... like every post is wildly off topic. ![]()

You're not controlling the characters (especially not in spinning around in circles) in conversations either. At least, the "full conversations' that are cinematic. The conversations that you still have player control over won't do this. At least they shouldn't, because the cinematic system isn't taking control.
This is done mostly because the animation system can behave oddly for complex animations if something happens that causes them to be updated asynchronously. So we synched the two during cinematics to work around this issue. Fixing the problem would be a lot of work, and likely won't be patched (definitely not day one) unless other, more serious issues end up manifesting as a result of this system.

For sure. I'm also not a great judge (years of having to settled for 20-25 fps on my poor computer to play Counterstrike makes me pretty tolerant to frame rate drops) for whether or not it was really noticeable in a negative way. Hopefully it's not an issue for those more tuned to higher frame rates.

Not sure what you're referring to here? Which trailer? Good chance it was probably Trevor Morris... but if it wasn't him I probably don't know.
