This is the second time within days that this thread is starting to annoy the developers so much they had to intervene... I would really like to have them keep tweeting and this thread going... could you take the endless discussions to it's own threads please? ![]()

I suggest developers just say who is in our party - this will calm people, no more speculations and seiges in twitter. And we will know what to wait without illusions.
And later tell us more about followers in companion's months.
That is an unsound marketing practice.
One of the key elements in an initial success of game (or a movie, or a play, or gadget, or even a book) is the hype and buzz surrounding it. The problem is, most people have the attention span of a goldfish, and when a product is revealed such a long time before its release the enthusiasm surrounding it will inevitably wane. It is therefore crucial to keep a rhythm of hype-creating moves in a crescendo that would reach its apex as close to release day as possible, all the while, not letting the hype fall off the radar entirely. Most people on this forum, and even moreso on this thread, are diehard fans. We are the most likely to buy the game at launch or before launch, we are the most likely to not have our attention to the game waver, and in fact the most likely to contribute to the hype. And even so - look at the history of this thread - after each reveal, no matter how minor, you can see clear elevation in enthusiasm that is both quanititative (the spike in the number of posts, and even pages that suddenly appear), as well as qualitative (the number of posts that contain phrases like "I'm even more excited about this game now" or "Will you take my money already" etc.). If the reveal of Cullen's role in the game (for example) causes an explosion of hype, you can be 100% sure, that BioWare's marketing is going to break down the information regarding it to the tiniest smitherines possible, and release them one by one over as long a period as possible, in order to get as many enthusiasm spikes as possible. Same goes to any other companion, any other LI, any other returning character (from previous games, comics, novels etc.), and any other feature favoured by a fan, as well as features that appeal to non fans (such as cinematics and graphics, gameplay etc.)
That is the purpose of these reveals - not to sate our thirst for info (if anything, it intendes to fan the flames of that thirst, pardon the pun and mixed metaphores), but to keep the hype up as much as possible. And there is nothing sinister about it.

@user: @BioMarkDarrah I'm curious, can we punch people like that reporter girl from ME? Some characters just deserve it
Mark Darrah@BioMarkDarrah: .@User that reporter does not appear in #DAI
LOL, nice response. Personally, I *really* don't like the option of punching a woman for asking questions, even rude ones, but DA games have a tradition of giving characters the option to murder knife people for looking at them funny, so in theory, punching annoying people doesn't seem that unreasonable.
I don't generally take those options, but I guess it's nice that they're available, for chaotic evil playthroughs.

Although, if they're looking for suggestions? Jumping puzzles; cut those babies right out.
Jumping puzzles can go jump off the nearest cliff. It's why I no longer play Guild Wars unless I'm feeling particularly angry.

Developing game series like DA and ME, series which can lead players to different canon due to their own decisions, can be quite frustrating. One misinterpretation fuels countless misunderstandings. People, please be grateful.
No devs beside Bioware do reveal information about their products.
While I absolutely agree jumping to wild conclusions is petty...the statement about no dev but Bioware reveals information is patently inaccurate.

The thing is, if they reveal the names, people will only start hassling them for other details. Lke who the romance options are and can I romance Varric and can my dwarf ride a pony and how does the Tactics system work? (OK, so those last three might be my top three questions about DAI, but you get the idea.)
I would welcome clarification about whether Cullen and/or Feathers the Bearded Grey Warden are companions, but we have to wait for this stuff.

This thread should be called "Now with more alarmist". Geez. I think people are starting to work themselves into a frenzy over every little thing said. xD
I almost wish that only tweets could be listed in here.

My money is on races, you can only play as a Qunari and you do not get backgrounds.
I'm kidding before anyone takes this fun speculation somewhere stupid.

GUYS. Stahp. Gaider was using that line of dialogue as an example. There isn't necessarily any feature that they have announced that is cut. But if you really want to speculate, can it be taken to another thread? Maybe a "Let's jump to conclusions" thread?
*Because even if you're joking, people come in here for tweets of news, and if they see your posts, without reading everything, they may take it as fact and thus begins the wildfire spread of misinformation.

HAHAHAHAHA *cough* *cough*
In my experience, there is no question that can be answered without prompting at least three more really urgent questions that must be clarified right now.
We know fans are excited and want every question answered, even this many months before release. We know they feel like those questions will never be answered if they're not answered right now. We know that some fans will feel that, if we don't answer them, it must be because we dislike the fan personally or have something against fans in general. We may get mildly annoyed at it from time to time, but that's hardly the end of the world, and it's really nothing new.

I'm mostly amused that things went from "this is the time of the project where I must cut things" to "I have cut really enormous things the fans already know about".
Like you suggest, I only meant to point out that something having been mentioned publicly would hardly stop us from cutting it, if it needed cutting. Early on in the dev cycle, we were trying to only mention things we were certain were going to make it into the final game...but we don't have crystal balls. Unexpected things happen, and the only way to avoid mentioning some things that eventually get cut would be to hardly talk about the game at all.
Insofar as the chatter goes, I'm almost at the point where I think the Twitter thread might need to go. It doesn't really seem to serve the purpose of informing anyone of what's being said on Twitter insomuch as "talk about things that were maybe mentioned on Twitter"...for which we have an entire forum and don't need a dedicated single thread.

A solution might be to close this thread, post a new one and only allow tweets to be posted. We can discuss the tweets elsewhere.

If we allow people to post to such a thread, people will discuss the tweets.
I dunno. If people want to read tweets, they could just join Twitter. It's a thing they could do. I'm certain that, if anything major comes up there, it will still be posted about here. We don't need a 1200-page thread for it.

Please, sir, don't close it down! This place is nice cause I don't have the time to relentlessly stalk the devs as I am a full time student, and so this is a place where I can check in every now and then to hear about this stuff. Otherwise, I'd be missing a lot of the cool stuff you talk about on Twitter.
