Bad marketing to announce something and then not follow through.

VERY bad marketing to annouce something, not follow through and not let people know it's not going to happen as announced.

That actually can be better marketting then you think, if you get regular information on a item you tend to lose interest but if you deprive information then you suddenly give a little bit of information after awhile it seems a lot more. Or as eddie Murphy explains it

I honestly didn't expect anything much this week, and BAM woke up Monday morning and saw their kick ass box art. Thought that was it for the week, and BAM they release new trailer, release date, preorder, and a look at our full team. My head almost got overloaded and exploded right there, and my excitement just went through the roof.

 

So yeah, they are sneaky bunch ) They will hit you when you least expect and blow your mind )

It's not the not showing that matters. there has been plenty of stuff out this week. It's not being bothered to tell people that you are not showing. People have been sat there all day waiting for this. And then the comment from DG it just shows a lack of respect for your customers.

 

If you can't understand that then fine.

 

But they are trying to rebuild a Company after 2 under-par games. They should be on top of the game, not letting the customers down with every promotion that they come up with.

 

Frankly after next week I doubt anybody is going to really care. Will there be some bitterness? Maybe, but it's likely going to be satiated by the next trailer, launch of the Dragon Age: Keep or you know, anything else. People were incredibly upset they didn't get the Dev Diaries in February and yet we've (mostly) forgotten about it. The game needs some strong marketing for sure, but they're not gonna get destroyed because they fell through on what is otherwise just something to pass the time. Let alone that DG made what was otherwise a harmless comment. He's snarky, some hate him for it, some love him for it. That's how he is, that's how he will be and really it kind of makes his characters all the more richer.

 

Also BioWare isn't rebuilding their company, their image needs a win, if only because they still have everyone question whether they can make great games under EA's umbrella, but they aren't in trouble of collapsing anytime soon. Downsizing however is another story...

We are hardly being left in the dark. Given how much information they have released, I don't see an issue if the follower day was postponed.

 

Forgive me but I assume all the craze on the forums this week should be a decent indicator that the marketing team has done a good job.
 

If accepting whatever information is given to us without complaining for more is being an apologist, then I'm an apologist and then some.

 

It's like when you promise a kid candy on Friday, then take him to the M&M store on Thursday instead and buy him buckets of chocolate, then Friday rolls around and the kid demands for that candy you promised.

I said I was going to preorder on the first day it was avaialble.

 

But I didn't.

I was too miffed at no images on a female Inquisitor on the website (like under Classes), or at least words on the website that you could chose your race or sex in addition to Class and changing apperance.

 

They keep saying in interviews 'Chose sex and race!'.....why is that not on the offical website then? You'd think that would be a nugget of info (if true) they would want to include on the "Play Your Way" blurb on the offical website. Not everyone reads articles/interviews.

 

 Until confirmation of at least being able to play as a female is on that website, I won't be ordering.....it's heresay until that point, and open to being cut as far as I'm concerned.

For me the lack of commitment has taken the shine of what was a good week. I liked the info we had but the I don't care attitude has just killed all the good will they had built up.
