i cant believe some people here are not sure they will be able to play as a female....hello? arent you on bioware forum??

And...hello? I may be on the forum...but not every customer will come to the forums, follow them on twitter/tumbler/facebook, look for any and all articles that may be online.

It's 2014....my coworker had no clue until I told her that BW's more recent series, DA and ME would let you play as a female character.

And yep...I'm complaining.....because the offical site isn't following what's being out out there in interviews. It's lazy synching up of the marketing channels.....interviews/tumbler/facebook/twitter and the website (which is what the DA:I links to on Bioware's page....it doesn't bring you to the other sites).

And is your co-worker someone who plays video games? If so, does she follow the information given or is a casual player? If not, what games does she usually play and why?

See, the problem here is you are assuming context because your co-worker is not informed. What is she used to, that might explain it better in the end because I seriously doubt that even a passing interest in the game or the series would not warrant looking up even basic information, let alone the amount of fandom that occurs outside and within the gaming community.

I wonder if you could ride into Westeros with that Fire Sword and declare it to be the True Lightbringer?

Spoiler

And yes to end the debate about gender representation. They should put something up on the website about females being playable, and we know trailers with female inquisitors are on their way. Let's end it there before the thread gets locked. If you want to keep going, do it in a private conversation or in a thread about that.

So the Inquisitor is now King Leonidas?  Makes sense...I guess Varric is the storyteller again.

We are hardly being left in the dark. Given how much information they have released, I don't see an issue if the follower day was postponed.

Forgive me but I assume all the craze on the forums this week should be a decent indicator that the marketing team has done a good job.

If accepting whatever information is given to us without complaining for more is being an apologist, then I'm an apologist and then some.

It's like when you promise a kid candy on Friday, then take him to the M&M store on Thursday instead and buy him buckets of chocolate, then Friday rolls around and the kid demands for that candy you promised.

It's bratty.

Buckets of chocolate? You are definitely an apologist fanboy if you are making that analogy. That video was nothing extraordinary. Hell, for all we know that can be clips from the Dev diaries that they said they were going to be delivering 2 months ago. The one thing that really deserves praise is the release of the cover art. It was a great piece of artwork and the Art team should be basking in the limelight.

Now tell me, how many marketing mess ups are you going to need to the point where my valid complaints sound less bratty, and you sound more like a sycophant?

How many do you accept before you started to become a cynic?

And I am not just talking about BioWare here, I mean the entire gaming industry since the "less is more" approach is often employed now a days because they don't want to step on a lot of toes of the fans anymore. After all, people tend to exacerbate situations for no reason regarding pre-marketing pushes....

Children, children! Did we forget to take our ritalin today?

Honestly, I go away for a few hours to meet up with Irving and Gregoir, and help Jowan break his phylactery (and turn him over to Mr. I), and then hop over to Ostagar to say hi to Alistair, and I come back to 6 pages of the most hyperbolic diatribes I have seen in a long time. And in this thread of all? I mean, I stopped visiting other thread because this thread seemed like it was more calm, friendly, easy-going, and less given to hysterionics then most of this forum. If it's going to be like this, maybe it's good it was unstickied.

I mean really? You think having a female inquisitor is an unsubstantiated hearsay? Really? Have you ever played a BioWare game? I mean, I undestand the need to feel represented in a game, and the disappointment when you're not, but to say that playing a female inquisitor is an unsubstantiated hearsay is so beyond the realm of credibility, that I think you're just making it up. You cannot possibly believe what you're writing.

The sense of entitlement that comes from some posters here just staggers the mind.

It sort of reminds me of how EA won worst company in the USA twice in a row. I mean, I'm not American, and even I know you have companies who defraud clients of their lives' savings and then throw them out of their homes, a bank which is found to be funding terrorist organizations, another bank which takes money from the government, and then gives it as dividends instead of making restitutions to people it has defrauded, and othe horrible practices, and the WORST company is one that has published a few games not to your likings (games which btw cost less than 100$ each, as opposed to thousands of $$ those other companies mishandled)?

So you didn't get to know who the next companion is. Big whoop. You know what? The sun is still going to rise in the morning. The birds are still going to sing. Flowers will bloom. And Ganders and Arishok will continue to do goosey things.

And you know what? you'll get all this info eventually anyway.

I feel embarrassed just reading some of the hyperbolics in the last few pages. Let's keep things in perspective.

I see we've failed at the whole "back on topic thing." If it's really this big of an issue, take it to its own thread or private messages. Please stop flooding this thread.

Well, a good parent, knowing how literal a kid is, would tell them on Thursday when they were going to the M&M store that this meant that there would not ALSO be candy on Friday.

A valid point, but please, please don't take that discussion in this thread anymore. Please.

And that goes for both sides, replying to tell the people who are upset about this will only make them even more upset and inclined to reply in turn. Everyone should just stop talking about this (in this thread). If someone posts about it, ignore the post.

(I really should change name to Please Cool Down)

Oh dear Maker, can we drop this already?

Here's the true story from my childhood. When I was in fourth grade, I once saw this beautiful, awesome toy in a store. It was one of the things that really popular and every boys had it, so naturally, I wanted it too. My parents promised me that if I got an A at English (my worst nightmare at the time) they would bought me that toy. I studied my ass off and finally got a A- (guess that was good enough) and started asking my parents to buy the toy for me. But they didn't, and I was being a brat and mad at them for a long time. Only later on I learnt that at that time my father was laid off, and it was difficult enough for my parents to put food on the table for us, let alone buying an expensive toy. Did that make them bad parents? Hell no. They did their best to raise me, and that's the most important thing.

So there you have it. it's life. Sh*t happen and you can't always have things your way. Just let it go and move on.

Anybody feel like asking the dev team if staves will have glowing effects on them like fire, ice, etc like we've seen in HoDA (like their tips glowing)? The pic with the Flames of the inquisition staff implies that we might.

Just ran through Matt Rhode's blogg, and noticed this piece of artwork:
DAI_WarHorse.jpg
It made me think about the armored horse that's part of the pre-order bonus stuff, and that it doesn't look like this one. Perhaps there will be more armored mounts in the base game that we'll be able to get?

Crazy stuff happened to me here. First it looked like I'd made a double post, then a triple post, and when I wrote "double post" in these I reentered the thread only to find that there was only one post all along... which now said "double post." :pinched:

It's fixed now, but kinda strange...
