At this point I'd say the only chance of getting a reveal before E3, is if Bioware holds a reveal event in conjunction with the release of Dragon Age: World of Thedas.

Why would they hold an entire event for the reveal? They didn't do that with any previous games and it's not like Dragon Age is an industry behemoth. Holding an entire event for the reveal of a game that was already announced would be like Frito Lay holding a national press conference to announce Cool Ranch Doritos are still delicious.
The reveal will probably be done like it was with DA2, as a cover story with 8 or 10 pages of content in a magzine.

I think they are, because i thought it was supposed to give away information about things (general things) that are going to occur within the game, like parts of cultures we have yet to experience.

I was thinking the same thing, I also suspect that we'll see a trailer on the Dragon Age website before we see it at E3, but who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.Atakuma wrote...
I'm predicting either a Game Informer cover story or a trailer at the xbox event in April.

Because they need to do something big to get peoples attention and get them excited about the game, especially after the less than stellar reception of DA2, TOR, and ME3. A simple magazine article isn't going to generate the kind of positive attention that they need, and if anything people will be leery of anything any gaming mag has to say about DA3 after they heaped on the praise for DA2.BasilKarlo wrote...

Besides a magazine article doesn't fall in line with their current, "show, don't tell" attitude.

It may come as a surprise, but magazines can now, right there among the words and graphs, print pictures and photographs. Shocking, I know.
And do you honestly think Dragon Age has the clout to pull off an entire event without seeming like a waste of time? Sony having an independent event to unveil the PS4 was unheard of and unexpected. EA doesn't put on big events for COD. You think they'll do one for Dragon Age?

It may come as a surprise to you, but screen shots alone don't impress most people, and they certainly won't impress anyone who feels like they've been burned by Bioware recently. Furthermore, who are you to say what Bioware can or can not do? Are you an industry insider that can speak with authority that doing a live event would be beyond Bioware's reach?BasilKarlo wrote...

Yep, because common sense says Bioware couldn't possibly come up with the few thousand dollars it would take to rent a small venue, invite some gaming press and broadcast it worldwide via their twitchtv account.BasilKarlo wrote...

Plus wages of the employees who are involved, costs of equipment rentals, catering and travel expenses, etc. Not to mention the fact that the gaming press is going to have to pay to fly to Canada to attend this small, private event. Why would the major gaming news outlets want to pay to send people to a small event for a single game that in't even a massive title? And what comes of it that couldn't be done with a video or two online? Do they do this for every title they make from now on? If not, why not? Does every developer do this from now on? If not, why wouldn't it make sense for other games but does for DA3?
See what I was saying about common sense?

Frankly if you can't grasp that Bioware needs to do something big to start winning people over after all the bad press they've had recently, than any claims at common sense on your part is suspect at best.BasilKarlo wrote...

So many Marketing BAs here!
I'm surprised Bioware aren't sending out job offers as we speak! Clearly everyone here knows way more about DA3 and how it should be marketed than the developers do.

So I guess the argument is that a game would need a longer or equally long marketing period as a new console for it to be successful..? Could someone explain the reasoning behind that conclusion?
I think it goes like this:
(snip)
Ah, I see. I'm inclined to agree that the timing is... challenging, but I honestly can't tell why this would require a longer marketing period. Rather, I would think that intensifying the marketing (getting exactly the same bang for your buck, but spread over a shorter time span) could be a good way to go in this instance.
Anyway, thanks for clarifying things.
