This just makes me realise that I don't really like any of the Elf companions we've had so far. 
I loathe Fenris and I'm not a particularly big fan of Zevran. Merrill is okay.

Zevran and Merrill were my faves. Fenris was cute but too angry for my taste, not that he didn't have good reason to be, he just wasn't my cup o' tea.

Merill is my favorite elf romance. Though favorite elf character would be Zevran. Fenris is too big of an angry emo for my taste.

Fenris is both my favorite DA character and romance, so he wins by miles. But also love for Zev and Merrill.

Depends upon my mood, but out of the three I usually prefer Fenris. Merrill is a little to naive for my taste (only been able to romance her once and sometimes she's just too naive for my party) and Zevran just creeps me out. His flirting wasn't endearing, but it made me uncomfortable. As a friend though, Zev and Merrill are great party members. Fenris, while certainly the most emotionally tortured out of the three, doesn't either choose to 1) Try to kill me or 2) Rebuild a cursed mirror.
