I know that the other races were introduced as a result of the time extension. I'm well aware of that. And I'm not saying there was a grand conspiratorial deception perpetrated. I'm just saying that there was a period of time in which the devs knew there would be four playable races (sorry I said three, I always forget the Qunari), but continued to state there would only be humans.
I understand the reasoning behind it, although I still think it should have been better handled (even not stating anything at that point, would have been better than denial). Again, don't get me wrong - it's not something I'm furious or bitter about, I just found it an odd choice at the time.
While the flawed and conflicting messages can appear as simply poor planning on part of Bioware's information releases, I prefer the human f***up to the sterile PR approved treatment.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if there's a point when we actually start talking about it differently.
It makes me sad to see that, because I think this may be hinting at taking the communication plan to the aforementioned sterile PR approved sphere.
I'm curious what other features we got because of the year time extension. Not that I expect an answer now but I hope you or someone else can tell us after the game is released what we got besides the races. Polish? Extra areas? All around more content?
Just another point of curiosity to make the wait for October 8th all the harder.
Just a wild guess, but I think the crafting system probably got taken up a notch or two. It seems like one of those things that would be relatively easy to iterate upon without risking catastrophe to something else. I guess you could say polishing too, since I assume any time you can take a moment to clean up something in game is always welcome, but I think most polish comes in Full Alpha (Feature Complete) and Beta.
I'm more curious as to how much of a train wreck DA:I was before the delay. Some of the Podcasts make it sound like it was a garbled mess of limbs wildly trying to kill itself, but unable to find it's head in order to do so. That is until the project "Crested the hill" as the old proverb goes, and reached that critical point where everything started to click and it feels like there is light at the end of the tunnel.
