I am curious to see what the results of the survey will be.
I doubt they would release them (they haven't released the results of previous surveys). And it likely won't affect much of the gameplay this late in development (they are now around nine or ten months before going Gold, where the game is out of their hands). Based on comments by others, this will likely affect what kind of commercials we'll see for the game more than anything else.
Just wanted to chime in on this - the survey going live somehow flew over my head. This survey comes from the gameplay group rather than marketing. You're absolutely right - many things are fixed by this point in development, but there's still lots to do. As developers, we have mental models of how people play the game; if I only ever thought about making a game for the way *I* like to play, it would compromise a lot of other people's experiences. A survey like this helps refine our understanding of how people are going to use the interfaces and tools and bits and pieces that make up a game as big and involved as Inquisition. We can learn things about players that sometimes run counter to our assumptions, and though it's hard to see specific details in the final product, this information shapes work we do on the game and how we put things together in the end.
It's very unlikely we'd publicize the results of the survey - there's a lot of context and interpretation that needs to be applied to understand the raw numbers, especially in an opt-in online survey like this ("selection bias"? what's that?).
This is something new - as far as I know the DA team has never done a survey like this before. I'm very interested to see what people have to say, and how many responses we get...
the link to the survey is still
