I think that has more to do with the whole thing being redesigned to accommodate the new engine. There had to be major changes to facilitate that.

The Frostbite engine doesnt have anything to do with the creation of art assets. It's not like the engine can only support blocky and angular meshes. 

 

This was purely a design choice, not a technical limitation.

Would also make sense. I'm just totally not expecting anything to look the same as it did before this time around.

It is a griffon. You can see the beak and it has the body of a feline.
