I really enjoyed the fade in Dragon Age: Origins and it took many playthrough for me to get tired of it, although I do wish we'd get a fade adventure more like the one in The Calling.

In origins when you visit your companions dreams you can't see what they see, you just saw a barren little island, whereas in The Calling when we visit others fade illusions/dreams you actually get to see the dream. So you see the city, the cabin, the fort, the cellar that is the persons dream space, which was so much cooler.

I'd love it if, when we visited the fade again, they made the puzzle part shorter and the dream parts longer and more detailed.

I hope the Fade is more like the one in The Calling instead of blurry little islands. I love the details and locations. Like the description of Duncan's dream or Genevieve's. That would be much more awesome and interesting to play through ^_^

Especially since you could take different companions on your 2nd play and get an almost entirely different fade.

 I checked the E3 Exibitors.

Bioware is not yet on the list, however EA is! ;)

June 11-13 guys! 6ish months away from the holidays too....

In terms of trailers or gameplay demonstrations I think in the past Bioware's games have generally used other events/presentations rather than having their own dedicated exhibition. In 2011 ME3 popped up in Microsoft's press event, if I remember correctly, and other DLC and games have been shown via EA events in the past.

Though didn't Mike hint that he'd prefer to show things sooner rather than later (where later was someone referring to ME3)? An EA executive (might've been the CFO, I forget) also said they're aiming to announce quite a few games, particularly for the next-gen, between now and E3.

the fade again ?it took me a month to go through the one in DAO...not because it was hard...but it was that boring and annoying...for me it was the worst part of DAO...if i have to go through something like that again i will go nuts...actually i think i did for a period as i went through DAO a couple of times...

I feel bad for all the console gamers who didn't have the 'Skip The Fade' mod. What a life saver.

@PatrickWeekes @NerdAppropriate "The Fade". Done.

Ah crap, we have to go back there?

my thoughts exactly
the fade was probably the only  thing I hated during each Playthrough. Just hope it's gonna be more fun this time

I loved the Fade in DA:O, it was unique, strange and eerie. It really helped setting the tone of the game for me, since I was a mage and did the Harrowing. In DA2 it wasn't as fun because it was just a foggy/blurred part of the world.
If it turns out to be a DA:O's Fade like experience, I'll be happy.

I agree that I hope the Fade experience will be more like DA:O. It was one of my favorite parts of the game. I thought it was a really challenging and inventive puzzle, and playing as a mage and going through the Harrowing made the experience even more fun.

I thought the Fade part in DAII seemed like a waste, though; it didn't have the same feeling of being in another world, and I didn't find the quest to be very involving.

If it's going to be like DA:O, I can't wait to go back, but if it's more like DAII then I'll probably think of it as just another level. There's more to the Fade than blurry walls!

I agree. While I did enjoy the Fade, more so in Origins than in DA2, I think it would be more enjoyable and interesting if the dreams of the companions, or even ourselves were longer and more detailed (assuming that companions are with us and get trapped or whatever), just a bigger part of the Fade than puzzles, or at least the same amount of time and detail as the puzzles so they balance out. :)

From NeoGAF, Game Informer is unveiling the cover of their next issue tomorrow and its apparently a nextgen game and the cover features a bow.

Could be Dragon Age 3? (Or Thief 4...)

A bow?...
Bows have never been a great feature in DA...I think the elven girl companion (from the survey) had a bow...if she's the next Morrigan/Isabella, why not?

But would they reveal the game like this?I mean we know they want to make a first good impression , and be very open during promotion.

I sort of doubt it will be DA3 related , But I know next to nothing about promoting games so...

Most recent BioWare games have all been revealed via Game Informer covers- ME3 and DA2. Not to mention most big EA games get them as well.

But I'm going to guess its Thief 4, so this is all probably much to do about nothing with respect to Dragon Age.

Oh I didn't know they reveal games that way , I thought with all the talks about game conventions,it was where reveals took place.

Well , looking forward to be disappointed tomorrow , I guess . :)

As I recall, they just had a nondescript CG teaser trailer there. They didn't properly start talking about the game in any meaningful detail until Game Informer's story.

Doing a reveal in a gaming mag is probably the worst thing they could do. No one is going to trust anything written in a game mag after DA2 and ME3 and screen shots, no matter how pretty, are not going to alleviate people's concerns about DA3 being another DA2.

Unless the GI issue that the cover is coming out for will actually hit stands AFTER the official reveal.

Andy McNamara twiteed this:

It does not have 4 or IV on the name.

On neogaf they believe it is DA3 or that Thief will be "reboot" and not have a 4 on it.

And for those thinking it is stupid to reveal a game on a mag:

We're either of those reveals, though? I thought I remembered hearing about aspects of DA2 and its features before reading about them in GI.

Ooooh exciting. I would be thrilled if it was Dragon Age 3.

Can you buy Game Informer magazines individually?

Origins used a warrior in promotional material and ][ used a mage, so maybe Inquisition will use a rogue? A rogue in promotional materials could appeal to the Assassin's Creed crowd.

I don't believe that Origins cover story there was actually a reveal, but the DA][ cover story was. The game hadn't been shown at all before that.

I'm not saying that its stupid to do a reveal in a mag,(though with todays gamers increasingly getting all of their news digitally, the value of old school mags like GI is questionable) what I am saying is that it would be stupid for Bioware, who are coming off back to back games that were lauded by the magazines, but slammed by the fans. The people that feel like they were burned with DA2/ME3 are the ones that Devs(Gaider specificly) said they want to win back with their reveal, and thats not going to happen with an interview and a handful of screen shots.

Fast Jimmy wrote...

That would certainly make sense, or it could be that GI had a Slowpoke moment and the cover is for Crysis 3. ;)

Ever thankful for Maclimes' and EP's threads supporting a blend of careful information and massive speculation. Isn't that the March cover you been talking about?

The witcher 3 was last month cover , the one people are speculating about is the April one.
The one with a bow/next gen /and no 4 in the title....
But the Da team have been really quiet , no tease , nothing ...
And the few clues could be about a lot of other games.
We'll see.

Yeah, that Witcher article is from Feb 04 about the March issue, the one everyone is wondering about is the March article for the April issue.

There was a fairly persistent rumour that it's the next Thief game.

I kinda doubt it's DA3. but we'll wait and see!
