That's what I feared. And I fear we won't see all companions at E3, but only those four.
I'll still love E3 though.

 

Waiting months to reveal a picture and quote for Cassandra/Cole/Solas/DHMG/Varric would be incredibly frustrating.

Well, if we get that theorized trailer for the Press Conference, then I think that we will get a glimpe of all of them. In the demo however, I'm betting that these will be the companions showcased.

Oh I hope they don't show too much Vivienne at E3, I've seen exactly as much of her, Cass, and Varric as I want to see of any of the characters before the game actually comes out. I don't want to know any of the characters too well before I meet them in the game after all.

Cassandra hasn't had a quote yet, nor Varric.
 
That also leaves Cole, Solas and DHMG. 
 
So still five characters to "reveal", since they're obviously being silly and revealing everyone again with a quote and an image - not just the new characters.

I'm not against them showing the confirmed companions with their 'role' and a quote. Just not before the new ones.

We've heard the press conference will be a demo, and possibly using Vivienne, Sera and the Iron Bull. 

 

The second demo might use Solas and Blackwall in some capacity, which is why they're being introduced now.

 

I now have no "certain" expectation to see all of the characters at all, and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't announce a single thing about Cole/DHMG in the next week. 

 

If they're revealing Vivienne again instead of DHMG, maybe that character will be unveiled at Gamescom two months from now. Or never. Who knows?
