We actually discontinued using Skynet. It had become obsolete, and we have something better now.

Something more fitting.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE HUMANS SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.

I know that I feel like an amorphous blob subjected to unending tortures when reading this forum at times.

Tweet incoming:

Mike Laidlaw:
"Directly behind my desk there is a prototype being worked on that is very exciting. There’s another one 6 offices down. Both self-started. At a certain point in the project prototypes become rapid iterations of highly specific gameplay elements, rather than high-falutin’ ideas. So, yes. DAIII progress ahoy."

(I put all three tweets together).

Is it me, or does it sound like Laidlaw is building Skynet instead of DA3...?

I think the most they're going to do at PAX is talk about it a little more and MAYBE show the protagonist, but that is hoping for a lot. I don't expect much more. But, I do think we will see something in April or May at the latest.

I don't want them to reveal the protagonist at all. Why would that matter? This isn't ME, where we have Shepherd. The DA games are all about creating your own character. Many of DA2's faults stem from the fact that Bioware wanted to tell Hawke's story, instead of telling a story any character can experience.

A "face" protagonist in a Bioware game is used solely to pull in those people who don't know what the game is about at all. DA:O's Sacred Ashes trailer showcased the companions primarily, showing an older and more grizzled "Warden" then most Origins (including the default human noble) would allow for. That's the way it should be.

I understand where you're coming from, but I never said it was a good idea. I was just speculating what the DA3 devs might do at PAX.

FWIW, over at NeoGAF, it seems Battlefield 4 is likely to be unveiled March 26th at GDC.

May be noteworthy for a couple reasons: One, it'll be a look at Frostbite 2 with nextgen systems, so it might give some inkling as to how Dragon Age could look or what sort of graphical features they can do. And two, that maybe gives some idea when DA3 could be unveiled. If EA is unveiling their own game in BF4 before Microsoft's rumored April Xbox conference, it could be that EA could unveil Dragon Age at PAX or maybe sometime in April.

Interesting, I didn't realise GDC was an event at which publishers actually announced games.

Positive news, I guess, tangentially, for DA3's announcement being some time before we all go collectively insane.

Before? Nah...I think the process of collective insanity has already pretty much spread throughout the fanbase  :P

I don't think the fanbase is insain, forgetful most definitely. Bioware does a few things, maybe more than a few, but thats besides the point, that a number of people disagree with and a whole bunch of people decide bioware is a terrible developer and can do no right, but forget all of the exceptionally beatiful things and enjoyable experiences they have given us over the past 15 years. Thankfully these things pass, and people will forget about being upset as well. The majority of the fanbase is actually silent and just enjoy the things we have been given :).

On the topic of the thread though, i was really hoping to see something at PAX, if we hear something at GDC however that'll be just as good. If they are still aiming for a late 2013/early 14 release then i would expect to hear something in the next few months.

Playing DA:O and 2 again, love the rich lore of the world. Will u ever delve into truth of myths like korth/andraste/old gods?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

We probably will, some of them, but slowly. Mystery adds to the intrigue, and gives us room to grow.

Łukasz Krawczyk ‏@IlidanDA

@davidgaider @Mike_Laidlaw Please. Conversations everywhere in #DA3 like in DA: O. THX! ;) Ok?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

@IlidanDA @davidgaider I rarely enter into feature discussions or make promised on twitter. (Or at all until game's revealed)

Please just reveal DA3 already! :)
