But it says dragon age origins concept art. What's it got to do with Dragon Age III?

I thought the building in the Morrigan photo was Flemmeth's hut..

Truthfully I have no idea what the concept art pertains to; I just thought if anyone is going to set a Chantry on fire, it would be Morrigan. Or y'know... Anders.

The Frostbacks do form Ferelden's border with Orlais, and both seem to play some role in DA3.

That sounds like a good guess.

It's an Avvar village guys. They wanted to make a human Avvar origon in da:o, but that got scrapped.

Nice find - the Avvars are located in the Frostbacks so it does make sense that we'd encounter them moving between Orlais and Ferelden.

Maybe.

Or it's where the inquisiter origonates (or could origonate if they give us options) from. They almost made a human Avvar origon in DA:O, so they might want to use that idea here. Or it was the plan all along?

That helmet on the right is really really bad looking. It's like the head of a Power Rangers enemy.

The silhouette of the armour here (in Sebastian's-crotch-land):

Image IPB

Looks quite similar to the Inquisitor armour on the right there, even down to what looks like a similar-coloured cloak.

I agree, that helmet looks bizarre - how could it possibly work as an effective piece of armour? The eyehole would be hugely distracting.

The one on the right? That looks like Flemeth.

Those swords/whatever the 2nd one is meant to be, look really stupid to me also. So impractical.

That was pretty consistent with DAII's artstyle generally though, the concept art we've had for DA3 looks a little more... restrained.

There's merit in having distinctive faction weapons and armour, but the curvy-wavy swords and what looks like a square... blade thing... really don't look sensible, or realistic. They could establish a unique identity just as easily with colours or faction symbols.

I think it's the lack of a face. Almost like Pyramid Head from that other thing?

It's appropriately intimidating but also really, really impractical.

Sword balance obviously means very little to art designers.  There is no way anyone could swing that effectively.  And they need to do something with the helmet, like make it look better for one.

Image IPBI have to say, I'm a little concern that these concept art pieces being shown says that they are going to stick with the cartoonish style DA2.

The Seeker concept art is from DA2, and in my opinion the stuff they showed for armour customisation in DA3 is nowhere near as exaggerated as DA2's artstyle was. The characters still look distinctive (heavily-armoured versus more lithe) but it's got more heft to it.

I mean, Origins' armour sets skirted close to impracticality more than once, while still looking like functional armour:

[img]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091225165757/dragonage/images/4/46/Diligence_armor.jpg[img]

I think if anything adapting the armour sets to the physiques of the specific characters that use them (even if they're in the same class, like Cassandra and Stroud above) is far more realistic than either Origins or DA2; in reality it's ridiculous that an armour set would be worn in exactly the same way by a huge muscular Warden and a female Seeker - they have different priorities for combat, for starters.

^In that pic only the edge of the blade is curved though,as opposed to the entire blade of the one in the concept art.The Inquisitor swords curves seem a lot steeper aswell, which makes the blade look really ridiculous to me.The power ranger helmet ain't that bad though,I could really see a miraluka inquisitor going for something like that.

Maybe the Seekers don't have eyes?
