There's a rumor floating around that every companion is romanceable, but I haven't actually seen the citation for it. The closest thing is one of the Devs saying that there's more romance options in this game than ever before, and also on the Iron Bull's character page it says something about how he'll get into bed with anyone he won't, uh, break. (kinky)

That rumor is false and was actually debunked by Gaider awhile ago and was unlikely to begin with.

David Gaider
@user No. Not all companions in DAI will be romanceable, sorry.

Unless something changed since then, but I doubt it. DAI having the most romances they've ever had doesn't necessarily mean that we'll get to romance every companion since we'll proabaly have a good amount of NPC romances aswell to give everyone more options.

As for the Iron Bull being a LI, who knows, we'll probably get confirmation, either way at somepoint soon.

Quick question. Will there be day-night cycle for DAI. Seasons? Dynamic weather system?

No, no, and yes.

Weather is both dynamic and story driven, also I believe they said it's region based, sand storms, blizzards, thunder storms and other extreme weather.

There's plenty of other links, about this but yeah weather is dynamic, story and region based.

Bit late in answering, sorry.

Last I heard it was going to be after E3.

It's the 40 minute full version of whatever they're showing at the booth. We only saw short excerpts from it at the IGN/Twitch demo broadcasts.

(But people have probably already taken notes and posted them here? I haven't caught up yet.)

No worries and cool I hadn't heard that we were going to get the full demo.

I think it might be that everyone in the party is romancable except for unnamed rogue who is likely cole, because Well, they are not making Cole a romance option ever, for good reason.

edit: and probably Varric too, Guy is already taken.

That still seems like too many, especially since other NPCs are now romancable too (Cullen, for one).

Even seven out of nine seems implausibly expensive.

I still think it's 6. And I am yet to be wrong about anything DA related (starting  before DAO came out).

Does it have any effect ? In FFXII weather would affect certain spells or is it just there because you know, weather effects?

People who wanted an m/f romance lose access.

I get tripped up on this usage of "lose access."  Just for my own understanding, would they still be losing access if Sera wasn't romanceable by anyone?

I don't think so, as there's no romance to lose access to.

So... wait.. Sera is gay? Well, that's a shame, she seemed right up my alley... And Leliana is not a romance option, nor is Morrigan.. that leaves... Cassandra(not my type), Vivienne(bit too power hungry) and maybe Scribbles... ahh maan. It's DA2 all over again. I mean can some straight dudes get some women up in this place?

There are meant to be special animations for that, yeah. Same for walking uphill or on ridges.

Imagine that you want ice cream but you're on a diet. Then someone on twitter posts an image of them with this creamy, delicious ice cream sundae.

The situation is the same (no ice cream) but before you saw someone else eating it and talking about how wonderful it was, the lack of ice cream wasn't as acute.

You probably will, though. The remaining female LIs are most likely bi or straight.

I'm pretty confident that each Inquisitor, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation, will get the same number of romance options. But that's just a hunch.

I don't think so, as there's no romance to lose access to.

Then I'm more confused.  Because romance content is created from nothing.  It doesn't manifest itself and then we cut out access.

If someone has their heart set on m/f Sera relationship, how do they only "lose" if f/f romance exists, but not if no other options exist at all?  Because any character could be romanceable before the game is made.  We have to choose which ones are romanceable and make content for them.  There's a lot of people disappointed that Varric was not romanceable in DA2.  But in this situation, they don't lose out?

I ask because I think people let themselves feel disappointed and whatnot because they don't fully understand what it takes to make romance content.  There's the writing aspect, which I think people can understand.  That is race/gender agnostic for the most part, which is why I think people understand it.  They seem to get to this point pretty easily.

But it fails to factor in the cinematic design cost.  If we assume DA2 had one scene that required unique content for each pairing, we have 2 player models and 4 love interests, for 8 scenes that need to be created.  With DAI, factoring in player races we're now up to 8 player models and at least for love interests.... now there's 32 scenes being created.

We could allocate those scenes to 4 characters, making those characters all bisexual and available for any gender Inquisitor.  But this would mean that anyone hoping for Sera (assuming she wasn't one of the 4), is SOL.  So if we give 4 of those scenes to Sera (taking them from someone else), it would seem to me that we either choose to see that f/f Sera fans are either now "given" romance content, or is "no longer losing content."  At least that's the way it looks to me.

Does that metaphor quite work? I mean in that you used to have access to ice cream but choose to abstain. In this case it's more like ice cream never was a thing you could have because it never wanted you.

Because it's not like straight men are almost exclusively catered to. Heaven forbid we lose out once.

But no, I'm certain we'll get at least two female options.

Fair enough, but wouldn't this still apply if Varric was my delicious ice cream, but all I see are people eating up some Anders ice cream?  Or is that someone in another neighbourhood eating ice cream?

I'll admit that my bias (romance indifferent) makes me struggle with this.  I see someone getting romance content they want.  The only way to "be fair" would be to take away romance content from someone, and give it to less characters overall.  Is this ideal?  Those that have no problems playing any gender or orientation are the most obvious losers (since now they're losing out on unique romance content).  Does it really mean that the others "win" because they don't really get more content.  They just get a different arbitrary allocation that could very well be the same number regardless.

The way I see it the NPC has a right to like whoever they want. They should not be there as puppets of player fantasy.People hate when you bring reality into the equation for some reason, but not everyone you like will like you back.

Having said that Sera is cliche that you could see coming a mile off.
