Quick question.  Will there be day-night cycle for DAI.  Seasons? Dynamic weather system?

Day-night changes based on the story. It doesn't change dynamically. Seasons probably won't change inside individual maps. Weather system, not exactly sure, but I'm guessing it's story-driven as well.

Yeah but two female squad mates not cass and scribe girl cass and viv. Not just one squad mate.

Why does it matter? A romance is a romance, isn't it?

You get more romance content with a squad mate.

Then I'm more confused.  Because romance content is created from nothing.  It doesn't manifest itself and then we cut out access.

Like Tali ? yeah right <_<

Does that metaphor quite work?

Yes.

I mean in that you used to have access to ice cream but choose to abstain. In this case it's more like ice cream never was a thing you could have because it never wanted you.

Wanting is wanting is wanting.

Fair enough, but wouldn't this still apply if Varric was my delicious ice cream, but all I see are people eating up some Anders ice cream?

If humans were rational, yes.

I played TOR as a female trooper and couldn't romance Dorne - annoying but nothing too bad. My friend is now playing as a male trooper and whenever she flirts with Dorne, I want to punch my screen.

I see someone getting romance content they want. The only way to "be fair" would be to take away romance content from someone, and give it to less characters overall. Is this ideal?

You're kind of arguing against something I haven't said.

The way I see it the NPC has a right to like whoever they want. They should not be there as puppets of player fantasy.People hate when you bring reality into the equation for some reason, but not everyone you like will like you back.

Having said that Sera is cliche that you could see coming a mile off.

I agree. It's much more believable than everyone being bi, and/or changing their sexuality based on player preference. But. But. The game is a work of fiction(dunno why you said "reality"... it's not, real.. that's the point), and so are the characters and they're made by people, who chose to make the characters as they are. Therefore it's fair game to complain.

Although unless you put at least 50 different romance option in the game, chances are someone is going to get the short end of the stick... so there's that. Although it sucks that it looks like the short stick is mine.

I can respect the decision to give companions set sexualities. I don't agree with it, but I respect it from a story standpoint. Having more sexual diversity in the group might even encourage multiple playthroughs as different genders/orientations, which I'm always happy to indulge. Yay FemDwarf Inquisitor!

That said, I was one of those unfortunate gays whom got friendzoned by Alistair way back in Origins. It kinda sucked to have my Warden's ideal partner to not swing his way, but hey, that's life, isn't it?

If it makes you feel better, just imagine how some women felt about Morrigan, or Tali, or Miranda, or Jack, or even Steve. Or how some guys might have felt about Alistair, or Thane, or Garrus (Oh lawd Garrus. Why won't you love me? :()

Yes it's a work of fiction, but people are still people. Making them nothing more than sex toys for the players gratification is very distasteful.

That's life, a story where a character fails to find romance, or settles for a second choice rather than be alone is just as valid.

We could allocate those scenes to 4 characters, making those characters all bisexual and available for any gender Inquisitor.  But this would mean that anyone hoping for Sera (assuming she wasn't one of the 4), is SOL.  So if we give 4 of those scenes to Sera (taking them from someone else), it would seem to me that we either choose to see that f/f Sera fans are either now "given" romance content, or is "no longer losing content."  At least that's the way it looks to me.

I think I'm used to there only being a smaller number of romanceable characters.  DA:O/DA2 had four each.  I do see your perspective with the two different designs...either have a few LIs with no restrictions or more LIs with restrictions.  People lose on something either way.

So... wait.. Sera is gay? Well, that's a shame, she seemed right up my alley... And Leliana is not a romance option, nor is Morrigan.. that leaves... Cassandra(not my type), Vivienne(bit too power hungry) and maybe Scribbles... ahh maan. It's DA2 all over again. I mean can some straight dudes get some women up in this place?

You could always just play as a femquisitor for one playthrough if you really feel that strong about the character...

Wanting is wanting but you can't 'lose access' if you never had it in the first place.

That's why I said "I agree". What you're replying to, was not what I said. I said that it's a work of fiction created by people, and those people created said work to have, from my point of view, less than ideal romance options for straight men. I do prefer this over everyone changing their sexuality based on mine(that would be not only unreal, but also insulting), but that doesn't change the fact that I will most likely be skipping romance in this game. Which is sad. Even with the weird barbie-doll sex scenes, I enjoyed the little romance my warden had with Morrigan... it sucks not to have that in this game.

I'm just saying, maybe try playing Baldur's Gate II as a female.

Your only option is this douche:

LOL, to make the most attractive character into f/f romance with the other two (Cass&Viv) being let's just say a bit unusual for normal taste... it certainly feels like they want to make you play as a female character for some reason. :P

Nah, I must just imagine things...

The writing on that 'party' trailer seemed... odd? Not like bioware at all, kinda cringe worthy at times.

...but hey, that's life, isn't it?

That's life...

I understand what you are saying here, but I would just like to point out that it isn't actually 'life'. Its a video game. Which people play to have fun, escape daily stressors or just to feel awesome about themselves.
A character isn't straight/gay/bi because they just are (as in real life), but because their writer/developer decided to make them that way.

Also, since this game isn't a dating simulator, and Bioware have long been renowned for developing in-depth and fascinating characters, I don't think anything they do would result in "making them nothing more than sex toys for the player", and I certainly didn't feel that making all LIs available to all players in DA2 detracted from the characters at all, since there is more to them than their sexuality.

It's a simulation of life in a fantasy enviroment. It's not a fantasy in that events should play out at the players behest. Characters should have reasons, good characters anyway. Just making them player fantasy analogues does not make a good character it makes a fan service character.
