I'd also assume that if they were talking about The World of Thedas, a book that deals primarily about the lore and the art style of the game world, they would have someone from either the writing team or the art team... or both.

And if Bioware was going to be talking about future releases such as the new IP or ME4, they would have respective people from there.

Instead, they have the two head people in charge of DA3 (Mike and Mark) and their lead "movie" guy, Mr. Epler. And John has had some serious issues going on with his cat's health that had him a little shook up, so hopping on a plane clear across the continent just for the lolz or a meet and greet isn't impossible, but it also seems like it would be something that he could have taken a pass on.

All speculation, of course. But still... I'm thinking this session will not be about the new World of Thedas book.

You always get my hopes up with seemingly logical posts like this.

I start to think "Hey, Bioware is probably going to talk a bit about DA3 at _____" 

And then Bioware just goes lolnope. I hope you're right in this case though, it seems logical and appropriate for them to discuss DA3 to SOME degree during PAX East.

I've targetted PAX East a while back for the perfect time for Bioware to talk about DA3 a log while back. It just makes sense with their stated schedule release window.

For the record, I'm calling reveal at PAX East, current gen console release Holiday 2013, next gen/enhanced PC version release Q1 2014, possibly coordinated with the first DLC outside of the D1DLC companion.

EDIT: Because that is the way I would do it. And I don't have a totally stupid mind when it comes to business rated things.

I know you have no actual insight into Biowares plan but when you say enhanced PC version, would you guess it would be a free upgrade to original PC purchasers or a seperate purchase?

In a sense that would be REALLY cool of Bioware because clearly there is a big difference in hardware betwen current and next gen consoles. PC kind of gets shafted in these situations because it's rare a developer makes the PC version noticably superior. So we'll likely be stuck with a version similar to current gen consoles version and then next gen consoles will get a superior version which just doesn't make sense because my PC is already a few times better than next gen consoles.

Knowing EA it'll probably be a $10 upgrade, but we'll see what happens. I honestly doubt they'd even do such a thing. Too much work..

Could someone please elucidate the term "Holiday 2013" for this non-North American here? I've been lurking around during the past weeks and I always get confused when you guys talk about it. Is it the period between Christmas and New Year's day or something more vague like between November and January? *Fingers crossed for the second option*

The parade of materialism pretty much begins on Nov. 1st, right after Halloween, and lasts until Christmas day. Granted, these days it's not uncommon to see Christmas stuff out in October before Halloween. 

And the talking heads on Fox News continue to insist that there's a war on Christmas. 

ETA: At least in the States. I'm not sure how the  Canadians do it.

Yeah they're probably going to talk about DA3 ....
I mean if I read correctly the schedule ....They have 3 hours of "Dragon Age: Thedas Unlocked" (talking about the game franchise).
2H 30 of meeting fans and signing stuff....
and 1h talking about DA3 comics, books etc...

They may stay vague and not do a proper reveal , but they HAVE to talk about something during those 3 hours!
The comics etc...already got another panel .

I can't imagine that they're going to say "hello everyone thanks for coming , we won't say anything about DA3 "...When they talked about it last year...

Now I wonder if someone will record the whole thing , that would be nice ^^.

On that, I have no idea. I would hope they do such an update for free for PC players who already own a copy, but I could also understand charging for it (since they would be doing the work for free at that point).

Isn't there a BiowareTV feature through the BiowareBlog? It could be on there? But that's me just thinking outloud.

Yay! Thanks for the reply TheBlackAdder13 and TheBreadedOne! Where I live Christmas craziness starts only by late November, so I was really thinking everyone's bet for DA:I release was something like 15th or 20th December.

I believe the principal writer for it was an editor, named Ben Gelinas.  He is going too.  I also crush him at Tetris! \\o/

The "Thedas Unlocked" event at the Bioware Base is being repeated three times, once per day.

Why would they reveal the game three times? It looks more like discussion of the universe and an opportunity to answer some fan questions, to me. Still a big opportunity for some tidbits or minor reveals (remember the map Mike used at last year's PAX) but a full-on reveal? I'd think that's unlikely.

Pity the release date for The World of Thedas book has been pushed to May 3rd on Amazon, I was looking forward to reading it in April.

Chris Priestly hadn't heard about a delay when I asked on Twitter, so it may still be just a weird Amazon bug. Then again, Dark Horse is the publisher, and I suppose they'd know slightly more than Bioware.
