Can we cut down on the chatter, please? Dorian has his own thread to post about how much you want more information. There should be another thread to discuss companion appearances.
It's annoying for people who come to read actual news,

It's the weekend. Chill.
So someone who is away for the weekend who uses this thread to keep themselves updated is forced to wade through a sea of offtopic discussions and brain-dead memes when they get back?
Perhaps you and everyone else who does this should "chill," and let the thread be used for what is was intended for. If you want to discuss anything else, there are 100s of other threads for that.

That makes it seems like there will be two different outfit bases with variations on each created by different armours....maybe loyalty armour ala me2?
It's not like ME2. Companions have a base look that is modified depending what armor you put on them. For example, if Vivienne had the stats to wear heavy armor it wouldn't look like it does on the Inquisitor. It would look like Vivienne has an armored version of her base look.
It's probably mostly re-texturing, but it allow them to give us variation in look with companion keeping their personal style.

Every time I rewrite unnecessary passive voice into active voice, an angel gets its wings. #editor
I've never understood why English teachers and their unholy spawn, editors, dislike the passive voice so. To me it is a perfectly acceptable alternative when you want to make a sentence more interesting.

I'm an English teacher (or will be--I graduate in August), and I don't think it's that big a deal. I'll probably discourage it since I know others get antsy about it.
I think the problem with it is that it can needlelssly complicate a sentence. Saying, "The Fade was ripped by one of the Maker's farts," vs. "One of the Maker's farts ripped the Fade."--One emphasizes the result, the other the perpatrator of the result.
This can be used strategically, and it can subtly influence how we interpret writing/speaking. Emphasizing the victim of a crime, for instance, lends a different tone than emphasizing the criminal. Ex. "Sera stole my underpants." vs. "My underpants were stolen by Sera." The first sentence is focused on Sera, inplying that we're focusing on her, but the second is probably opening up a heavy discussion of my underpants.
It's subtle, and not always important, but there. But yeah, I'll go on the record and say that, like most things in writing, passive voice can be useful as long as you use it knowingly.

The presence of pauses kind of completely removes that though, doesn't it?
'My underwear was stolen by Sera' and 'My underwear was stolen....by sera' have different emphases that the active and middle voice are thought to bring, so really it's not at all necessary to avoid it.
Nor do I think we are always more interested in subject than in object - I would say it's roughly 50% or 40/60 logically - and so there should really be no issue with passive voice whatsoever. Each can emphasise different aspects.

One is active voice, one is passive voice, both contain the exact same information. There is absolutely nothing wrong with passives.
The main reason is that kids don't know how to use it correctly and if you don't know what your doing then the passive voice is best avoided. A lot of what they teach you in English grade school as hard rules can be broken if you know why you should do so.

One could argue that the former is better though, since the latter complicates the sentence. In the same way that the active voice doesn't immediately ascribe an object to an action.

I'm starting to wish that we had a thread that only certain people could post in, that way we'd see only tweets instead of picking through twenty pages of useless arguing to find if any new tweets came about.

Sorry, but arguing about people going, "off-topic" is still off-topic. ArtemisMoons is right. If you only want information, make it dev-controlled only posts. Discussing a tweet is absolutely fine with me. If you have to sift through pages, deal with it because that's how forums are. Apologies for being curt, but the hostility is really irking me. I agree, close this thread if it's dividing people like this. There is barely any new info and the tweets have skimmed amount of info, so naturally, people will spend time discussing. I wasn't aware we weren't allowed to open discussions about the said tweets. If you don't want that, make it so or close it. Shouting in capital letters or continually shutting down playful conversations that are drawn from tweets is off-putting and gives a bad atmosphere.
I'll keep my posts off this thread from now on, I guess. :-|

And poetry complicates fact but we should still use it if it's more appropriate ![]()
Anyway, it is two extra words that take a fraction of a second for us to say. It really does not complicate it.
Thinking about the idea of passive is as complicated as thinking about the idea of active: one cannot exist without the other; they are two sides of the same coin.

I think the only problem with discussion of tweets is that it quickly gets out of hand, spiraling into twenty pages of nonsense about passive voice or "DORIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!" xD
Personally, I don't mind a bit of chatter of game related tweets, but the discussion of grammar doesn't even belong in the dragon age forums, let alone the twitter thread (I know a dev posted something about it on their twitter, but it's not really DAI related).
It just makes it incredibly difficult to maneuver through this thread, which was meant for information about the game found on twitter. It feels like some people just don't care about that, however and purposefully take things completely off topic.
