Meh.  I waited 5 years for them to finally talk about Dragon Age: Origins, through Jade Empire and Mass Effect.  I can wait for DA:I if waiting means avoiding another DA2.

I disagree about late 2013 being too early.

It's already been in development quite awhile. Much longer than DA2.
Of course, if the game isn't ready in late 2013 then I hope they do push it back and make it perfect.
Every time it's asked, we're given the 'Late 2013 at the earliest' line. So if Bioware thinks it'll be ready then...well I have no reason not to believe them.

I'm actually not sure why they even opened a DA3 section on these boards to be honest. People are just talking in circles now and the devs/moderators complain about people going off topic but there is really nothing to talk about concerning the game, so people just grasp at straws. Why don't they just give us something? Like even a release date idea? It is really confounding.

The forum was opened in large part because it's what the DA2 forums were discussing anyways.  It was one of the "worst kept secrets" type of things, so by creating the forum it provides a place to consolidate discussion.

i dont follow games tbh, this is the longest ive kept in touch with a game, the only real experience i got with this sort of thing is the years i spent in world of warcraft an even there i never really went to forums or anything, but didnt they say they was aiming for late 2013 for release? an if thats correct i just find it strange there not talking more.

Dont get me wrong im not to bothered just a lil confused cause as i said no idea how these things work an if there only 8 month to release id expected at the least alot of screenshots by now, but meh i dont know im easily confused lol

I agree with the decision to make the DA3 forums. The DA2 forums were so off-topic from DA2 with DA3 talk  that it only made sense. I also agree with the decision to keep everything on the "reveal" front quiet.

My only concern was not doing a reveal before April but then still shooting for a launch of Fall 2013. So I'm reading this as basically saying "Fall 2013 is not the likely target anymore." I understand I could be completely wrong, but it is the only logical outcome for me to assume right now in my own mind.

If it is a 2014 release date, I agree with the decision to not do the reveal until Q2 2013 or later.

Wasted opportunity.

I, personally, just waved bye-bye to that Holiday/Fall 2013 window. It is, in my estimation, completely out of the question.

I waved goodbye to that release window when David Gaider basically called me an a-hole for mentioning that Laidlaw and Darrah still use that timeframe.

I still can't believe they are not showing us anything. A foot of a minor character, a brick from a wall of a building, a 3D model of a cheese, an ear of a minor voice actor. Just ANYTHING!

Man, I'm desperate ...

It wasn't that long ago that some poster was saying that the game is probably behind schedule or being developed for next-gen and got insulted left and right for it. At this point being developed for next-gen is not a valid reason for the lack of info. The PS4 has already been unveiled and multi-platform next-gen titles have already been revealed. That excuse doesn't jive at all. It seems pretty clear to me that the game is behind schedule. Gaider is telling people not to mention the release window that Laidlaw is still telling us and unveiling the game after the NextBox is announced pretty much guarantees the game will be lost on the flood of news.

Just because they will not show DA3 does not mean that they will not talk about ideas like last year

Not to likely considering Laidlaw is Gaiders boss.  They are not ready most likely because the next xbox has not been revealed.  Could be wrong but it makes more sense then above.

I've never been to one of these things, but if any of the attendees are anything like those of us on the BSN thread desperately seeking any information, I can't imagine the topic won't come up repeatedly and enthusiastically.  Surely, they'll be forthcoming with some details.

Not to likely considering Laidlaw is Gaiders boss.

Gaider told me, on this forum, to stop mentioning the Fall/Holiday 2013 release window.

Context is important.  David Gaider says a lot of things.  Most of them with deep, biting sarcasm.

This is where the exchange starts.

And then another topic he told me again that that isn't a release date and that I should stop calling it that, even though I never referred to as a release date. But now those posts are deleted.

We have more information about the time travel addon for The Sims 3 und this will be released after The Sims 3 Insel Paradies at the end of 2013.
And from Dragon Age 3 we know only the name of the game.

Yes, he told you that it's a target for release, not a release date. He falesly accussed you of labelling it a release date. Fair enough.

The point is that (1) Gaider never said it wasn't the release target, merely that it wasn't a release date, because he was evidently under the false impression that you were labelling it as such. And that (2), even if you choose to disregard point, Laidlaw is still Gaider's boss and probably has a better idea of the release window they're aiming for.

Gaider was probably distrubed with what he perceived as posters taking fall 2013 as a gospel release date and acted out of fear that, in the event of any delays, people here would be whining that Bioware lied or broke their promise about the release date or w/e. Then he took it out on you.

ETA: And for the record, I still am making fun of people in my head who are coming up with conspiracy theories about the game being delayed because they're not getting information NOW. I'm also making fun of people who are acting like a fall 2013 release date will indicate that the game was rushed like DA 2 despite all evidence to the contrary.

That is it. It's not so much that the person I responded to was declaring it an "official release date", it's simply that it's the sort of thing which, once it gets referenced often enough and casually enough, people start to think of it as an official release date and thus as an iron-clad promise.

We've announced no official release date, just as we haven't revealed details on the game. When we do, I'm quite certain there will be no ambiguity present at that point. ;)
