Did you read Asunder? If you combine that with what happens to the Inquisitor in the beginning of the game and what's happening all over Thedas there is a very good lore reason why they would always remember.

Hm, I wasn't terribly fascinated by Cole in Asunder, but I'll say he looks appropriately waifish.
I'm pretty impressed with the facial tech honestly, it captures the "age" of the character really well.

I love how he looks so sickly...almost dead, like. It really suits him!
I hope he'll be more along the lines of how he was at the last few pages of the book, rather than...before that. His ending monologue gave me shivers.

I like the way he looks, but what on earth is he wearing on his head? "Mad as a hatter" is apparently a truism in Thedas: Viv's Horn Hat, the Sexy Hat and now Cole's Odd Chapeau. Oh well, panache beats boring any day of the week.

Definitely interested to see how he plays out. His profile suggests that in at least one of my playthroughs I'll probably end up having him leave rage quit. I guess everyone will just act like nothing happened?
