Maybe it doesn't work in the presence of the inquisitor? Otherwise those banters could get pretty repetitive.I really wonder about the other companions. Will Iron Bull, Vivienne, and the like be able to remember him? If not, it will certainly make for some weird party banter...

Oh, and he's like The Silence from Doctor Who. Once you're not looking at him, you start to forget about him. The Fade thing probably makes the Inquisitor immune.
I foresee a sort of mentor quasi-parental relation, sort of like Shepard and Grunt.
I could see that. It'd be interesting if his personality was very malleable. As though you could twist him towards good or evil. I could see a dark inquisitor finding his abilities very useful as a personal assassin.

Its not really clear if he's possessing anyone or is some sort of shade.Fade Spirit inside a body of a mage that the templars forgot about it, if I recall right.

Well here is hoping we find out for sure! But given the body hasn't decayed think shade is more likely, but we will see.

It's been debated in his fan thread and there is plenty of speculations there.

Good to know my favourite DA book character made it into the game. It was pretty obvious he was going to be in considering he was in the leak and is one of Gaiders favourite characters so it wouldn't make sense for him not to show up.

All I pray is that Cole's personality won't be like Justice's. I don't need an DA2 Anders or a DAO:A Justice 2.0. Just from what I am reading he is sounds a lot like Justice.

Super stoked Cole is confirmed. Can't wait for Gaider to talk about him, like with Varric, Cassandra etc.

I don't think it'll be like DA2 Anders since Anders had control as well, Cole himself is dead, so its just the spirit there. More Justice from Awakenings

Saarabas: Anyone seen Cole?
Varric: Who's Cole?
Saarabas: Funny. Really, where is he?
Vivienne: I don't know any Cole...

So, Cole is about restoring order now?
Should have thought of that before HELPING THE MAGES ESCAPE!

Awwwww, Cole. I just finished reading Asunder a couple of days ago, so this announcement is well-timed for me. My Inquisitor is going to treat him like her creepy serial killer little brother, and give him hugs and chocolate and take care of him forever.
(I don't envision him being in my first party much, though, since the PC will be dual-wielding herself and it seems wrong to give him a bow when he's so good with that dagger ...)
I assume that our character will have no trouble remembering him due to their glowy-handed condition.

Can he control who forgets him and who doesn't? Or is it just a symptom of him being well him?

Get a quick introduction to this curious character Cole: The Spirit here -- http://bit.ly/1nYovcv
If you'd like more background on Cole, he appears as a main character in David Gaider's book "Dragon Age: Asunder" available at major bookstores and online!

Cole's like that Shade from the Brecilian Forest that coaxes it's prey into falling asleep in a highly suspicious camp. Except that he's more human than wraith.

I think he's more about helping the helpless and the Inquisition might choose to do that so he would want to join up.

Wow that was a surprise Cole beat out Dorian.
And yes, as some people said creeepppyy. I hope they do him justice in the game and give him a good character arc.
I just want to tell Cole that I hate him.

I... didn't say otherwise? I just said he's no Quasimodo. He doesn't look ugly, just like a pale, skinny, sleepless twenty year old.
I agree. I'm not interested in him in the romantic sense, but he's not disgusting to look at. Kind of of like a blond, poorly-dressed Edward Scissorhands. *shrug*

Cole is pretty much an empowered ghost. Physical, but not. Demon, but not. Spirit, but not. Soul of a dead child, but not. Caught between worlds in unique circumstance. It is up to you how you'll regard him, how human he is, how alien he is.
But from the initial look of it, treating him just as a tool to satisfy your want for power... isn't gonna go well with him. Of course on the other hand, there will be characters that are quite the opposite

Oh, he is so very dead after all.
Well, he already sounds interesting.
Funny thing, I'm finding all of the companions revealed so far interesting. Surely that's a good thing.

Surely,
And when we have a name for Scribbles, we'll have one for all the faces in that group shot. This pleases me.
