Well... bye bye pony...
I have a feeling I'm going to be using mounts in the same way I use them in Skyrim - during "downtime", when you just want to go out for fun ride.

You know the whole "Iron Bull thinks Cole needs Hookers and booze thing" makes me dislike Iron Bull a bit. He's a child you silly qunari, you don't give hookers to a child demon/spirit/thing.
Yeah, I'm a bit surprised how few seem to be considering the possible negatives to Cole hanging around a mercenary who's been described as being excessive in some of his antics. Iron Bull is complicated but I'm not sure Cole will always be able to see the nuance behind his words and/or behavior.
Sick, pretty much no voice for the past couple days. Silver lining: just discovered my Iron Bull impersonation is now quite good. #MAYHEM

How much time have you spent making TTIB ascii art?
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
...some?
How much of it while at work? *leans in with microphone*
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
I'm pretty sure I had a change request asking me to do it.

Did a bit of a new game as a Qunari Mage. Lemme tell ya, you start understanding people's fears of both Qunari AND mages real fast.

"Hi, listen, I'm seven or eight feet tall and just killed something with lightning by WANTING TO REAL HARD. Hope that's not a problem."
It's like the first time you drive a halfton. "I bet I could drive right over those little cars."

Damn, boya! You're fast!

Play as an elf, get threatened, and it's an underdog story. Qunari, same scene, I'm wondering why I haven't snapped someone's neck yet.

What I'm saying is that it is probably for the best that I am hornless and comfortably shy of six feet in real life. I would NOT STAY GOOD.
Will we still hear companion banter while mounted?
No. There’s lots to hear, and lots if reasons to not be on a horse.
What the hell! What's the point of having a mount if you lose out on party banter?!
He's not a corpse per se...he's still Cole.. he's just carrying an extra passenger
Think of it as Anders/Justice with Justice having taken complete control.
Ugh.. Justice was always a major D**K when he had a body though. I like him just as a spirit.

You have to return to areas a couple times I imagine plus grinding/exploration. I rather be on a horse for that stuff.

Then why bother creating a mount system in the first place?
Waste of resourcestm if you ask me.

Good, good. That's exactly what I want for my first playthrough: fear and dread and righteous dominion.

Have you played Skyrim? I can tell you that if this game is anything like Skyrim, which they have mentioned that it takes nods from it in design, there is going to be a lot of distance and some sort of down time.
Alright I've confused myself, which Cameron was just at E3?
I need to know for reasons.
Mainly, I'll feel like an idiot if I send my tweet to the wrong person.

My initial guess would be, to speed up travel in areas where you haven't unlocked every Fast-Travel point. Personally, I don't intend to use mounts anyway but I can certainly see why they were put in, despite the numerous shortcomings related to using them.

Definitely going female qunari Knight Enchanter with the biggest horns possible on my second run. (Dwarf is first priority.) I expect to have trouble completing the game because all NPCs will flee in terror as soon as they lay eyes on her.
(I know that the Qunari would find her more intimidating without the horns, but I figure they'll be frightened enough by the unchained female Saarebas with the sword made of magic.)
Cameron Lee.
Thank you muchly.

Qunari mages, nice. This has probably been answered elsewhere but will we be able to play as Qunari women?

In one of the E3 interviews they explained it as a way for you to get through bigger areas that you've already been through before, which makes sense if we'll be doing a lot of back-tracking, exploring and collecting materials and the like. I don't think we'll miss out on banters or anything like that from it. There'll still be plenty of walking, plus I'd imagine banters are more likely to be triggered when entering villages and or dungeons and such, like in the other DA games.

That doesn't mean you have to ride a horse. I never really used them, not when I could sprint across Skyrim in 20 minutes.

I understand why. I just don't see the point of a mount system in Dragon Age if there aren't any companion mounts, this being a party based RPG and all that.
I still want to know how the handle combat while on mounts.
We already know that fighting while on a mount is a no-go. But what happens when you run into a combat encounter, then? Is it like Oblivion and pre-patch Skyrim, where you have to awkwardly stumble off of your horse while the enemies hack away at you? Or does it disappear from beneath you in a puff of smoke?
