why is that?
Hornless qunari are rare, and considered destined for greatness. It's probably why Sten is the Arishok.
That doesn't mean you have to ride a horse. I never really used them, not when I could sprint across Skyrim in 20 minutes.
I understand why. I just don't see the point of a mount system in Dragon Age if there aren't any companion mounts, this being a party based RPG and all that.
What the hell! What's the point of having a mount if you lose out on party banter?!
Here's my solution to this problem, but it involves grinding. Banter grinding, FTW!
Step 1. Run around and exhaust all possible banter
Step 2. Hop on a mount of your choice
Step 3. PROFIT!!! Ur, I mean EXPLORE!!!
Right pain in the arse of a solution, but it should work. Now, if you can't exhaust banter by wandering over certain points like you could in DAO (can't remember what it was like for DA2), then, my friend, we are screwed.
Ah well, I'm not going to let it bother me too much. I'm gonna ride mounts AND listen to companion banter, even if I gotta grind shite to do it. Totally worth it if it means I can ride around the landscape whilst gawking at the pretty scenery. (I spent more time doing this in RDR and Skyrim than playing the main story, in fact. Does that make me weird?
)

Probably to ride around large swathes of land that don't have points that activate banter
Well, at E3 they said that certain mounts provide different pluses and minuses. I'm going to wager that there are certain sections of the map that are completely unreachable with out certain mounts.
This seems like a pretty safe bet here. It would explain why there are so many different types of mounts and why they have any sort of bonuses.
I feel like I'm going to spend my time walking around. Though it did look like we could fast travel to various camps and locations so that could be useful.
Probably it starts unmount animation when entering combat, and horse runs till it's out of player's line of sight and disappears.I still want to know how the handle combat while on mounts.
We already know that fighting while on a mount is a no-go. But what happens when you run into a combat encounter, then? Is it like Oblivion and pre-patch Skyrim, where you have to awkwardly stumble off of your horse while the enemies hack away at you? Or does it disappear from beneath you in a puff of smoke?
You have to return to areas a couple times I imagine plus grinding/exploration. I rather be on a horse for that stuff.
Well, that does make sense and gives me reason to use a horse(which I did want to). Thanks.

Yeah, that's like the best option. Walk every at first then use your horse to re-visit areas.
Will the mount join in the fight, like our mabari hounds did? In Skyrim, Shadowmere always tanked the dragons for my sneaky archer...

It's all fun and games until some forsworn kills Frost. Then the only logical response is a 3-game-day continuous heart-fueled perks-maxed lycanthropic rampage across the entirety of the Reach.
That escalated quickly

Mounts are not involved in combat.
No horses for companions. No party banter (if PC on horseback) Why BioWare created Horse? (The horse is unnecessary).
It's not like you'll never be walking on foot and encounter party banter. The horses are there because the maps are bigger and it will get tedious having to go to the same places over and over again by foot.
Lol. It was only rage at the beginning. Then it was, "How long can I keep this going?"That escalated quickly

Play as an elf, get threatened, and it's an underdog story. Qunari, same scene, I'm wondering why I haven't snapped someone's neck yet.
Not really helping me decide on whether to have my first Femquistor be either an elf or a qunari there, Mr. Weekes.... ![]()

BOTH!
Pull back the curtain and you will reveal the QUNELF INQUISITOR
this horrible amalgam of flesh and terror will let you play as both at once!

What I'm saying is that it is probably for the best that I am hornless and comfortably shy of six feet in real life. I would NOT STAY GOOD.
elf or qunari?..
choosing will be difficult

Then I looked at RL clock and said, "****!"
It's funny how those games lead to one becoming so attached to your horse!
I still think the best RP experience I ever had in a videogame was when my character woke in the night to the light of an Oblivion gate opened near the farm house she was squatting in. Walked out the front door and didn't even turn to look at the horse paddock, just went straight for the gate. Got there to find a horse slaughtered in the center of it, assumed it was her's. WENT BALISTIC. Hunted and killed every single Daedra on the other side of and around that gate. Came trudging home in the dawn rays covered in blood....to find her horse (Mirabelle) safe in the paddock. My little brother and husband had been watching me play and as soon as I found that dead horse they were all, "just load an old save" but I was dead set against it. Upset as my character was over the loss of her horse, that was the sort of organic play that I do love about those games.
Then why bother creating a mount system in the first place?
Waste of resourcestm if you ask me.
Because the game levels take fifteen minutes or more to cross by foot, and sometimes you need to cover large distances very quickly?
