And how pray tell does disliking a character disrespect the writer? As long as people think about the characters they write (whether they love them or hate them or somewhere in between) then I think the writers are satisfied.

 Calling the character out of there name like that, and purposely messing up their name. And, there isn't anything wrong with disliking a character, hence, why I said that it's fine to dislike a character.

So the spells Dorian's doing in those screenshots lead me to think he might be a rift mage. They don't look very necromancer-y to me. Plus, if he's trying to stand against all the negatives Tevinter has come to stand for (awesome character premise and I can't wait!), then I can't see him specializing in a magic type that usually has such negative connotations as manipulating the bodies of the dead. 

 

Current theory:  Solas' outfit seems like that of a hermit living in the wilds, probably a wet/cold area (fur shawl thing). Possibly somewhere like a bog. The bog in this game is gonna have dead people in it. Solas = Necromancer.

I'm sorting them into three different groups that I can easily rotate depending on the situation to ensure maximum time with all companions. Blackwall, Cole, and Solas for the quieter moments. Varric, Viv, and Cass for the bigger/political moments, and Iron Bull, Dorian, and Sera for when I'm just looking for a good time.

Well, Dorian is quite good-looking, now that we have a proper screenshot of his face. So... Is he a romance for the girls, the guys, or both? I'm hoping for both.

Sorry but that moustache looks ridiculous. Not the biggest fan of the characters so far, from a visual standpoint.

Am I the only one who is slightly disappointed hes a "outcast" in terms of a Tevinter magister? then again, Vivenne seems to be more ambitious and "magister-like" out of the group. I doubt they will get along if that is the case.

There's a brief preface to the "Magic" chapter of World of Thedas that mentions an elderly elf living in the woods with only the dead for company.  Solas does not appear physically "old" from what we can see, but your comment made me think of that.  It will be interesting to see if each of the companions embodies one of the available specs

Early concept arts had Solas looking much older if I recall, he also seemed to be rather cocky, which is what lead many people to assume he was Dorian.

I think Dorian's mustache might suffer from the same problem Sera's hair did. It looks like lines or a flat plane instead of 3 dimensional hair. I dunno how to fix it. A bit more shading maybe?

 

Ofc, mustaches *can* look like that in real life, so... I dunno. His mustache looks very thin. Not in height, but in depth. Though, now that I look at it, its only an effect I'm noticing in the super high res closeup. From, what I assume will be, normal viewing distance it looks fine.

 

I still think he's definitely the hot, pretty boy of the group regardless.
