That would be the difference between being the privileged class and the non-privileged class. Hetero protagonists are by FAR the majority, changing one so they're no longer heterosexual doesn't erase a rare example of an underprivileged group.

I take making Isabella white or Alistair gay and etc. is just making a favorite character in line with personal preferences, whether sexuality, skin tone etc. It never even occurred to me that any of it was hostile.

I myself would probably change all the women to a cinammon color if I could. If the roles were flipped and white people oppressed I'd suddenly turn into some huge ****** for my preference? I'm white too and prefer PoC. If a PoC likes white and uses the mod are they a ****** too?

I really am just trying to get why some people should have their preferences insulted and belittled while others are validated. And I'm a person who is magically validated for having the "right" one.

So you basically fetishize women of color. Believe me when I say that it is not a compliment to be attracted to someone based on a particular skin color. Intersectionality gives context, which makes the flip for white people suddenly being the oppressed moot. Now isn't it interesting that us PoC came with a word that gave us solidarity? I believe the intent is to say his appearance would be associated to physical characteristics that are typical of our worlds Indian people. There are no Indians, French, Latinos, Chinese, English, etc in Thedas.

I know, that's just that he "looks" more like a Latino guy than an Indian one to me. His skin seems a bit too "fair" to feel Indian like. And since Tevinter is side to side with Antiva, i thought i was one the right track (and the conquistador mustachio did the rest  ).

 

And there is indeed no French in Thedas. The awfull Orlesian accent is nothing near french (only Lelianna's one is).

Having an aesthetic preference is hardly the same as "fetishizing" anyone. I myself find pale skin tones very attractive. It isn't a racial thing, just what I happen to find physically attractive
