Even though I'm at work, I had to sign in to "like" Hrungr's posting of Carson McConnell's tweets about racial diversity.  Before Inquisition was announced, I created a thread asking for the next game to include people of color.  I couldn't believe how many people claimed that a fantasy world had to follow the racial migration patterns of medieval Europe!  Why are people so loathe to make room for people different from themselves?

I'm always amazed when people will claim having diversity is "anachronistic" in a game that has magic and dragons.

Because their happy with how it is. More to the point, they don't think a European medieval based fantasy world is under an obligation to expand beyond its basis demographically. And they don't see why anyone has a problem with it. Frankly, I somewhat agree with some of it. I've never heard anyone complain about the lack of African or European characters in Jade Empire, a Bioware game starring an entirely Asian cast.

if your mage has to melee with a staff then you're doing it wrong. learn how to mage the right way
