This isn't going to be a discussion we're going to have.

People have every right to be identified as they wish, and saying 'oh let's just define them as -people-' ignores that said sexuality is often a huge part of their lives as people can and will oppress and marginalize them for who they are.

And given that this is our house, our rules stand, and our rules are that we respect how people identify.

Personally I just look at everyone as people and sometimes it looks like certain people of a minority sexuality are simply trying to get attention just because they are something. I know it's different but I don't go around asking to be called 'that straight guy' instead of just 'that guy'. No offence meant to anyone, I'm a very open person these are just some things I observe

sorry if it came out hateful, but I just tend not to look at someone based on thier sexuality, I know plenty of gay people but I don't go around saying "oh yeah, that's my gay friend". I don't blame people in minority groups for trying to get attention, though. A lot of them have a hard enough time getting people to acknowledge that they even exist and have a legitimate identity. Having a game company with the reach of BioWare recognize that you are a real thing and do their best to give it justice/use the right terminology/be respectful, etc., is a big step that most of us take for granted. I personally don't use labels for myself, but I don't begrudge others for doing so, and I think BioWare making this aspect of gaming something that they want to take a stand on is awesome.

 

And that's what I have to say about that (I'm sorry about off-topicness...)

Just because a person has good intentions doesn't mean they shouldn't be corrected on their mistakes, especially regarding these kind of matters. If anything, those people are often the most disposed to learn from people telling them they messed up, so it'd be a waste to stay quiet.
