Dragon Age: Thedas Unlocked

Thedas Lore Book

Currently Volume 1, but expect more to come in the future

Comics

Most of the comics feature huge foreshadowing
Expect content to be at least touched on in DA3 and future titles

Insights into DA3

Good mages will be present in DA3
At least ONE mage isn’t crazy (supposedly not talking about protagonist)

Frostbite Engine

Integrating conversations and armor customizations were hefty problems
System has been modified to allow designers to use freely
BW loves fans who engage in modding, but…
Modding in Frostbite will be difficult. If a toolset can be done, they’ll approach it (though rumors of toolset for Frostbite engine already floating)

Notable Facts

Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director (DA3): Merrill fixing the mirror was a ‘bad call’
Fan asked about Sebastian; devs extremely tight-lipped on his involvement
How do you like winged quadripeds with swords? Cause Frostbite doesn’t like them.

Yeah... I always wondered why they never finished the mirror storyline, I always assumed DA3 was when we'd find out.

#DAWeek is going to be awesome. I have a few #DA3 mini-projects I am really excited to try out. Taking suggestions still, of course.

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

@joshstiksma Beaveskärn, Josh. Just putting it out there. ;)

So Sebastian is prolly in DA3.

And what's this DAweek?

edit: soo, whether, or not Merrill fixed the mirror will have a bit of....consequence in DA3?

Idk if that's what they really mean, but it seems that way. And how else would it matter than sum consequence in DA3?

this has real giggity potential.

Well, it potentially wiped out her entire clan. Of course, that's the consequence of her TRYING to fix the mirror (it happens either way) but I guess it could still be what he meant.

I wonder how they could use it if that is what they're doing? I mean, what happens if you didn't fix it? Nothing?

I was wondering the exact same thing. I didn't help Merrill at all since I didn't like her and also got the feeling that fixing her demonish mirror wouldn't end too well :bandit: but well, it's not completely certain whether or not it'll be a part of DA3 anyway, so I'll just be happy about my decision not having helped her

Same here, on a few of my playthroughs I didn't help her at all. I pretty much ignored all her quests because she was just so stupid about everything.
I hope they take that into account and don't just say "NOPE. MERRIL FIXED IT HERSELF YEARS LATER."

Anyway, this DA Week sounds exciting. I looks forward to see the vague tweets of what the devs have accomplished..

huh, Did they change the logo of DAII and Dawn of the Seeker or did Mike just saw a new rendering of it?

I think (?) he means the actual logo of the Seekers of Truth in DA.

Posted Image

It's one-half of the old Inquisition's insignia, along with the Templars' sword-and-fire.

Interesting tidbit though, could this mean a journey to confront the Seeker remnant forces?

And no one is surprised.

If it gets her killed I may change one of my files to let her fix it. Better stop dreaming, Bioware would never kill her for it. :(

Does Merill actually ever fix the mirror? I mean I went the rivalry path and went out of my way to keep her from fixing it but is it possible for her to fix it with your help? I thought the end result was the same either way -- she can't fix it with or without Hawke's help but the demon still possesses Maratherai and she potentially ends up exterminating her clan. The only difference I recall was whether she smashed the mirror in the end (if you rivaled her) or kept it in tact (if you friended her).

Did they mean trying to fix the mirror?

Anyway, I really like Eva Myles so I'm happy to have her back in DA 3.

I never helped her, but since she ends up destroying the mirror in the rival path she probably can only fix it in the future if you're supportive of her stupid plan to restore the mirror.

I think I only have one or two playthroughs where I supported Merrill's attempts to reconstruct the mirror. As much as I adore Merrill, it never seemed like a very wise decision.
Very interesting tidbits of info.

I believe she fixes it, as in makes it whole again, but it doesn't function.

Just went through the whole Merrill/ keeper possessed sequence again. At least this time I avoided having to kill all the other Dalish. shrugs. I hope people aren't reading too much into those tweets. I could be a moderator for BSN easily. I don't have thin skin. cough.cough.

I rivaled Merrill, did her quests but wouldn't give her the shaper thing, and she ended up smashing the mirror at the end, saying she was changing her ways, etc. Maybe she changes her mind, haha. That the mirrors might be addressed again is interesting though.
