Ooh, will the story of Dragon Age: Last Flight tie into the events that occur in or before Inquisition, and if so, does it have anything to do with what the Grey Wardens have been up to?
What we know so far...
We know the main character of the novel will be a fledgeling Grey Warden Valya. Could you tell us something about her?
Valya is a mage looking for refuge with the Grey Wardens. The "present day" setting of Last Flight occurs after the events of Asunder, so it's an uncertain time in the world for Circle mages. On top of that, Valya is an alienage elf, which makes her an outsider twice over. So for her, the Grey Wardens represent a chance at safety and stability in a world that doesn't seem to have any other place for her. It doesn't hurt that the Wardens are among the great heroes of the world, either.
At least, that's what she thinks in the beginning...
At what time exactly will the story take place? Partialy in the times after the 5th Blight, partialy in the times of the 4th Blight?
There are two storylines in Last Flight. Valya's storyline takes place after the Fifth Blight and begins around the same time that Asunder ends. Isseya's storyline covers the Fourth Blight and some of its aftermath.
Synopsis:
The Grey Wardens are heroes across Thedas once again: the Archdemon has been defeated with relative ease and the scattered darkspawn are being driven back underground. The Blight is over. Or so it seems.
Valya, a young elven mage recently recruited into the Wardens, has been tasked with studying the historical record of previous Blights in order to gain insight into newly reported, and disturbing, darkspawn phenomena. Her research into the Fourth Blight leads her to an encoded reference scrawled in the margins of an ancient map, and to the hidden diary of Issenya, one of the last of the fabled griffon riders. As the dark secrets buried in Isseyna's story unfold, Valya begins to question everything she thought she knew about the heroic Grey Wardens. . . .
