Don't be a dick.

Let's see how far that gets you.
In my experience with both Morrigan and Fenris, simply being respectful goes a long way, even if you don't agree on everything.
I liked the gifts, mostly for the little scenes that came with some of them. But I suppose there'll be plenty of other interactions.
I liked the gifts as well. Not the generic ones that you just gave to raise approval, but the ones that initiated conversation. It's done even better in DA2, I think (like when you give the book to Fenris and if in a romance can ask him if he wants you to teach him to read).

The gifts in DA2 were good because they did spawn a conversation as did the "important" ones in DAO. Those I liked the generic +6 gifts in DAO were no good anyways.
It's almost like they want elves to be visually appealing again as apposed to being Iconic scrawny wannabe-Na'vi deer-people.
Yes so much better that they are just short/thin humans again.
Indeed, it isYes so much better that they are just short/thin humans again.

Heya! Will you all be at PAX Prime this year?
Not certain just yet. Timing isn’t great as we wrap things up.
Oh dang, the Bioware Base is where I plan to spend like 80% of my time at Pax Prime.

Elves are essentially pointy-eared waify humans.
It's like saying dwarves shouldn't be short hairy humans.
Frankly, their DA2 appearance made no sense considering they were supposedly "beautiful" by human standards, and they most certainly were not conventionally beautiful in DA2.
However, it seems they still have a long nose so they didn't completely do away with the DA2 look. They just reverted their eyes to be more human-like while keeping the "elven" irises and made their facial structure rounder. They look better.

I hope there's some gifts like this, ones that trigger certain scenes or dialogue.

Except Fenris. ![]()
Because he was the most humanlike elf in DA2Except Fenris.
I wouldn't say most humanlike. The general template for the elves is there, he's (alongside with Merrill) just hand-crafted, so... And some of the more important NPCs were okay too, at the same time being distinctly "elfish". ))Because he was the most humanlike elf in DA2
Because he was the most humanlike elf in DA2
He looked more like an anime man than DA2 elf
He was also the only elf in Dragon Age to show signs of stubble, hahah
Wish I could put stubble and short beards on my elves...
Except Fenris.
That's cause he has very human-like qualities. He doesn't look like a DA2 elf.

Speaking of Fenris ![]()
I would have preferred him with shorter hair. Matt Rhodes posted a "preferred" Fenris on his blog.

So much better.
I really like blonde Carver a lot better than brunette Carver. I wonder how that would have changed the family appearance.

Sarel would like to have a word with you...
Hm? This was Matt Rhodes' redesign of Fenris.

I liked it, but I also liked his in-game design. (I'd still love to see him show up in DA:I with this outfit.)

I'd much prefer this or an actual explanation for his hair color.

Merrill and Isabela had the best design in that concept art
Eh don't care for Merrill's outfit in that picture.
Isabela's looks great though.
...
That's a really great design for everyone involve.
