Definitely makes sense to me that tats are race restricted, honestly. Because the game establishes specific lore for the traditions of certain tats. If they opened up all tats for all races, it would kind if require they add in game dialogue where NPCs comment on the oddity of, say, a human noble inquisitor with Casteless tattoos. Otherwise it cheapens the lore behind the tats. I don't think it's irrational or unfair that BW chooses not to go this route.

David Gaider talks about the writing guidelines for his DA books...
An interesting bit here...
... It’s one of the things I rather enjoyed about the process, and if I ever write another DA novel I’ll likely stray further from type than before—I always felt I kind of structured the stories in the novels like they were game plots, mostly because that’s what I’m used to, but it might be more interesting to put together a narrative that would be completely impossible to do in the context of a game.

Now I'm very curious about what could be written that would be impossible for a game...

Can we have tattoos other than on the face? Say, the arm?

It is interesting that they're going to separate tattoos by race now, and like you say, it makes sense... Now I'm curious to see what a "human" tattoo will be like.
Probably more artistic, not really any meaning to them.

Can the protagonist even go sleeveless, short of removing all their armor? I might be a moot point...

Could be, but I wonder if there might also be options for various symbols - like House Trevelyan and so on..?

Isn't a dev on record saying that the Dalish tattoos won't be specifying which tattoo relates to which "creator" b/c the CC won't support it? Likely similar situation with specifying a tattoo as House Trevelyan. Unfortunately.

Multiple concurrent protagonists doing different things at the same time would be an easy example. Like, say, Cryptonomicon. Or pretty much anything Victor Hugo ever wrote. Or a story where a present-day conflict reveals a huge complex backstory of a protagonist who DOESN'T have amnesia and whose current decisions are actually informed by what happened in the past. Or (for this series) a novel where the protagonist ISN'T A COMBAT BADASS WHO FIGHTS PEOPLE. Or the entire "Man vs. Nature" type of conflict that you basically NEVER see in RPG's (although it is present in other types of games). I could probably go on listing for HOURS.

I don't see anything there that would be impossible for a game, despite whether some of those things have been tried or not.

Indeed. One could argue Rockstar handled the multiple concurrent protagonists pretty well in the latest GTA game. Indie games really pick up the slack in the more obscure and niche game concepts. Sorry for going off-topic.

It could be a book where the main character stays in their stronghold the whole time and just issues orders, and the book follows those orders, but gamewise people would find that boring (I wouldn't)

What is this? "101"?
When they tag something 101, it's like calling it an entry-level college/university course. So essentially "Combat Basics".

I think it's a reference to US college courses, 101 being first year "beginner" courses.

Archers have quivers in Origins. For God's sake why not make quivers in DAI?
Already fixed a few weeks back.
Also, it's "for the Maker's sake".
I'm all aquiver that we now have quivers!
And yes, Dragon Age: Inquisition now has quivers #DAI #AllAquiver

They had quivers in DA2 as well so I don't see the big deal.
