Perhaps when we first get Skyhold it is a rundown and abandoned keep that we rebuild as our inquisition gains power?

???
Why mention Hawke's family then?
The Inquisition isn't family.
I disagree with that. I've always felt my companions as a family. You don't have to be blood relatives to be a family.

I like the idea of (re)building Skyhold from the ground up! Goes hand in hand with what we're doing with the Inquisition itself, no?

I meant in the context of the tweet. If a person says "family" my first thought is "blood relatives" and not "close friends" and the tweet also mentioned Hawke's family (which I assume meant Bethany/Carver and Hawke's mother... and not say... Isabela).

I second this. As i understand the tweet, the family will be in the background, mentioned only depending on the race e.g an orlesean noble will say to human inquisitor: "Hey i knew a Trevelyans, hows you dad?" This family connections can be a benefit or hindrance depending. I doubt there by beyond a mention or at best as agents or resource for cash.I meant in the context of the tweet. I'm REALLY hoping we'll maybe get a family member for a temporary starting companion and a few minor sidequests down the road (something similar to how Shepard got a different minor quest if he was earthborn or spacer...).
Not as much family focus as Hawke but a bit more than just getting text letters signed "Your Mother"
. Or something similar to DAO where family members showed up at the beginning and end of the game.

hey Mike, will the inquisitor have family in game?
Depends, but in no way is it as central as it was with Hawke.
Will there be swimming in DAI?
No.
I'm assuming that's for the Human Inquisitors and Dwarven Inquisitors.

This actually brings up a question I've been having lately. I wonder that since we kind of fill in the blanks about our past, I wonder if for the human Inquisitor there is an option to be elf-blooded?

I am rather tired.
@eplerjc SLACKER.
@PatrickWeekes AND SUDDENLY, PATRICK WAS SET UPON BY A SWARM OF BEES.
@eplerjc Also we should touch base tomorrow for that special-snowflake pain-in-the-butt request I'm making of you.
@PatrickWeekes YOU DARE TEMPT THE IRE OF A MAN WHO CONTROLS THE ELEMENTAL BEES? (yes, let's)
@eplerjc Empty threat. Bees all get tired around me on account of I'm so damn SMOKIN'.
Just wrote "empty threat" as "emoty threat" in tweet to @eplerjc. Honestly, aren't emoty threats the best kind?
@eplerjc I WILL DESTROY YOU AND OMG FEELS

Doubtful considering we are of noble blood.

Why not Elven or Vashoth?
Dalish have the possiblity of family being dead and I'm guessing the Vashoth is a mercenary so we won't know of their family. All assumptions of course it just make sense for the Human since he/she is from a noble family and for the dwarven Inquisitor because of the last name Cadash.

True. I don't think they'll have "My mother/father had an affair with an elven servant" as a background option. A shame though since playing an elf-blood would be fun.

Ah, okay. Though I prefer them all still having connection to their families.

I don't think it'd really change anything, human is the dominate trait that wins out so you wouldn't look elfish, like Alistair doesn't look elfish.

It'd be more of a mindset kind of thing rather than the appearance.

Dragon Age Inquisition seriously just blew my mind. The customization is going to be bonkers.

i hope they talk abt customization at gamescom. i mean, a peek at the CC; sum more armor variations and how they look on a few diff characters--and what i'm really interested in right now is SkyHold and how we upgrade/customize that.
everything from the curtains to the windows to the bed, but how? are there just default all in one customizations for Skhold and we pick one--that gets unlocked? ooor, do we run across blueprints somewhere? oor do we have to have trade agreements and supplies for certain merchants and craftsppl, and we commision them?
i wanna see skyhold. from what i hear in that interview w/Laidlaw, it's sounds pretty cool.
