I try to be fair, but Blinky might be why someone invents Surface-to-Air Missiles in Thedas.

I would fully support trying to hand-wave this into the IP somehow.

I'm of the "Glass it from Orbit" opinion...that thing should never be allowed to make my Lizard brain revolt in sheer terror...

Thanks Bioware my Trypophobia is now in full effect...

I learned a new word today and while I do not fear it, it doesn't make it less disgusting. People do not google Trypophobia.

Please don't post irrelevant and trypophobia triggering pictures in this thread AGAIN :/. I know the new monster shown looks similar but there's no reason to post pictures from outside the game that could make users uncomfortable and could potentially lock this thread. Thank you.

I would like to get some info from the devs about how the 'time required' thing works for those advisor missions shown. Will real time in-game waiting be required? Or does time pass differently in the game?

I hope it's not real time playtime required. Having to wait for minutes/hours to unlock stuff and be able to play more of the missions is something that mostly mobile games do and they do it so you'll run out of patience and buy in-game currency with real money to unlock things faster :/. Nobody likes that. Leave that for HoDA.

Perhaps it's a deliberate gameplay decision though - force the player to go out and do other things in the meantime.

I expect those missions that take time will be relatively rare, maybe even confined to just the main quest arc.

(Granted, it seems like a perfect vehicle to introduce microtransactions or something, and that... wouldn't be so good, especially if it was in SP.)

The idea is that sending someone on those mission is a strategic decision. If you send Cullen in a mission, for the next few hours/minutes your military support is going to be reduced so don't go around doing things that would require it is not a good idea.

I'm not sure, but even if it is (it probably is), they might have a new perspective or see something we didn't.

Right now, all I want to know is the names of the skill trees, for instance. That might - MIGHT - show up.

That doesn't always work. Sure, it 'encourages' players to go out and explore in the meantime, but there are many types of players. What if a player explored already? What if they play fast and still have time to spare after doing a good amount of exploring? What if they just want to focus on the missions instead of exploring? What if they have a limited playtime and want to spend their limited free time doing different things in-game?

'Forcing' is rarely a good thing when it comes to games. Sure, you might have fun, but you might also end up just killing time and get bored if you are forced to do something in-game you didn't feel like doing yourself.

I'd just like to know what to expect for when the game comes out.

They said they have a big announcement about DAI ..but it will come later this month?

MP , maybe?

Oh, that left me wondering...

Though I don't think it'll be MP. Maybe they'll open the Keep earlier than expected?

Edit: I didn't think I could be more hyped for this game. But... daaaamn.

I imagine there's a sensible design decision behind it, though.

They're surely not introducing timed quests arbitrarily.

(It might just be as simple as the fact that those War Table missions don't actually involve any gameplay on our part - you're just sending an advisor off to deal with something on the map. Making that take time gives a sense of weight to the mission and prevents it being like ME3's sidequests where evacuating the elcor or whatever took six seconds of planet scanning.)

I can't imagine they'd allow there to be a way that you could have everything done except for one adviser mission and you end up stuck waiting for them to get back for 2 hours.

I suspect it's been easily worked into the flow of the game and the adviser in question just won't be available for advice or any other adviser assigning mission for the time being.  It sounds like the majority of the time we're sending scouts or other lower groups of people to do things and the advisers get the really meaty, story, main quest driven missions.  I doubt it will be an issue more than once or twice.

Could be.  End of August would be about six weeks before the original release date.  Perhaps the extra time will be used to stress-test it?

Or barring that, maybe end of August will be when an official release for the Keep will be announced?
