Please don't post irrelevant and trypophobia triggering pictures in this thread AGAIN :/. I know the new monster shown looks similar but there's no reason to post pictures from outside the game that could make users uncomfortable and could potentially lock this thread. Thank you.
I did put it in Spoiler Tags and said it was clearly NSFW... anyone who clicked on it chose to..
I was trying to allow people not to see it if they didn't want to. I also thought most people would know what trypophobia was.

Crafting definitely. I was a little disappointed with what they showed. It was little more than the interface for it... I was under the impression (Perhaps mistakenly) that it'd be a little bit more involved. Basically the only thing that changed in the weapon shown was the color and attributes.
That said, in terms of the kinds of options it opens up on an RPG/Statistical level, it was very impressive. It was just visually underwhelming is all.
I just felt it necessary to correct myself.. After watching the Gamescom demo (About a thousand times as I'm sure we all have) I did notice that components like Pommels and Hafts seem to be more like weapon mods rather than Crafting components I can't find a screenshot of it, but I did notice in the Mountain Father Greataxe, it had the mod slots as well as an open rune slot. (Also, for those wondering, a healthy bit of flavor text detailing the weapons origin) What I also liked was that the Pommel and Hilt seemed to have rarity (Purple) status as well. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but I like the idea of even more layers to looting.
So it looks like "Crafting" the weapon creates a Base item that you can slot in additional upgrades, which makes the Armor system make a lot more sense, as I assume the "Armor" upgrades will be things like Gauntlets and Boots. As far as weapons are concerned it reminded me very much of Knights of the Old Republic's lightsaber modifications, though I assume in Dragon Age: Inquisition the other components (Pommels, Hafts, Hilts) will actually have a visual impact.

You can craft items and these items have upgrade slots. These upgrade slots can be found or crafted as well (just like items).
The various component slots of crafting are a particular type, and materials provide a different benefit depending on what type of slot they are being put into. Same goes for upgrade components that are crafted. With the right crafting materials (of sufficient quantities) you can make items that really "go deep" on a particular benefit. Or you can spread out the benefits to make something more balanced to a variety of situations.

You had me at "Allan Schumacher."
I'm really stoked to see that the upgrade slots get crafted too. Exploration has always been a big thing for me in games, but It never really feels right if it exists for its own sake... So having that constant trickle of incentive-reward for really getting out in the the field and looking under every rock really makes me smile.
Did I mention I was one of the freaks who found every mineral deposit in Mass Effect 1? HARDCORE OR NOCORE. At least I started off with 100 extra Platinum in Mass Effect 2. Hours well spent!

I'm glad I work with a bunch of GenX'ers who get gaming. "Can't come in today, BioWare RPG." just zeros out a sick day without a formal inquiry or having to do that awkward totally fake over-the-phone coughing fit.

Also DA Fan, do you mind posting the actual text of the tweets? If you copy them from web Twitter it includes a direct link, and it's much easier to find the original source than if you post images.

Smart money's on Old content but new playthrough. It's always nice to see people play in real time though.
