There is at least a small possibility that they're waiting for the release of the World of Thedas book before they officially reveal DA3. The book will help hyping up the game, and the game reveal will get people interested in the book.

So this sould be soon.

The World of Thedas book (Collector's Edition) started shipping yesterday

Dark Horse comic April 17th release schedule include World of Thedas (that is from a list given to retailers a few days ago, it's the street date). Both the CE version and Amazon had a April 30th street date a, but despite this BioWare started shipping the CE already. Hopefully Amazon get their shipment soon and ship early.

Lack of teasing is currently because we had bug week, planning for the next milestone, DA Week, and canceled sprint review day (so we could spend more time doing all of those things). Next sprint starts on Monday so it's back to business as usual and you'll see more teasing. Especially next sprint review day.

What's bug week? :-S

Bugs are constantly filed, and worked on (if important enough) during the sprint, but generally the developers are working on features.  Bug week is a time we set aside for the team to stop feature development and work only on bugs.  This helps make the build more stable, reduces our tech debt, and allows for more iteration on content that's already created, it's a good thing :)

Ah, I see. No spider hunting for inspiration in DA3 then!

I wonder how they'll keep the Dragon Age hype up after the comics and encyclopedia are all launched? I just can't remember the last time we DIDN'T have something coming out Dragon Age related know what I mean? Since Origins some piece of DLC, web series, novel, etc has been waiting in the ranks, some two or three months between them. But I can't think of anything besides the last chapter of Until We Sleep and the World of Thedas (keeping in mind the Masked Empire is coming out next year) that is announced to be coming out any time soon.

Do you think we'll be getting any new DA3 promotional products?

What, like Dragon Age LEGOs?  Do want!  [pictures blocky Alistair and Morrigan and litlte, cuboid Fenris]  Build-your-own-high-dragon sets?  :wizard:

Lol not quite THAT, but something along the lines of a movie (unlikely), webseries, new comic series, etc. It's just filler to keep us with a constant Dragon Age drip. I'm not saying there needs to be something, but it'd be a sort of soft marketing type thing. Keep it on our minds if only in an background kind of way.

"Oh a new Dragon Age novel? I wonder when the next game is coming out."

That seems like a possibility. Also, I don't really mind them not showing us anything, to me it means they're working hard on the game instead of working hard on some trailer or something.

They don't have to be the one working on the trailer though, could be a Blur Studios trailer or some other third party group.

I'm almost done reading Mr. Gaider's "Dragon Age: Asunder" so between that and my copy of "WoT" I think I'm gonna be even more psyched for DAIII. Image IPB

So, Extermination Week?  ;)

Like the other six hundred and twelve times there's been an impending announcement, it's possible that the game Best Buy Canada said would be unveiled today (Monday, although I suppose it's not that yet in North America) may be DA3.

EA is apparently announcing FIFA 14 on Wednesday, though, so who knows.

Its likely NHL 14.

Come on now, you think Best Buy Canada is going to tease a FIFA game?

As an Australian I barely understand the idea of hockey (people with sticks on some kind of... hard cold substance...)

Though good point! I assume it's hard for Canadians to enjoy soccer, what with the four metres of snow everywhere.

Actually we use our igloos as goals and it works quite well.

Hockey... <_< Damm crappy sport is killing me right now, keep this up and pretty soon I'll be the one in need of a hug and then none of you are safe. Let's not talk about hockey.

Revealing via best buy would certainly be unexpected, but am I the only one who thinks it feels a bit... cheap? I don't mind per se, but... I'm fully expecting my socks to stay on for a while longer.

I don't think Best Buy would be doing the revealing at all, it's just that retailers would have advance notice of new game announcements (and they'd be in constant contact with publishers about release dates, etc).

EA will be the one doing the revealing, in this case I think a retailer just teased it beforehand (they did the same thing with a game that turned out to be Batman: Arkham Origins)

By the way: http://www.easports....e-reveal-teaser

Already confirmed fake by a dev here. It's just concept art from Origins.

Or did someone at EA give it to them as a placeholder ? shrugs. If they're still debugging the game then they're still a long way from release imo.

I assume it's a week where they look at the game and find the bugs and fix them.

Obsidian refers to it as "going Gold."

You see what I did there?

If you're referring to how Obsidian looks like Golden in the sun ,then yes I see what you did there.

No, I was referring to Obsidian games shipping when they're full of bugs. The term "going gold" means the game is ready for production and shipment.

Kind of like how Bethesda charges people to beta test their games.

So, I can't tell if he's serious here, or just high from the booze, fun food, and sun he's enjoying on his vacation...

@davidgaider
Spent afternoon plotting new book. New Orleans is a good place in which to do that. Lots of juices flowing here-- many alcoholic in nature.

Of course, this "new book" doesn't have to be DA related. I think it would be fun to read a non-DA David Gaider book :D.
