Could be that they just made sure the demo inquisitor was over-leveled for the area they got to play, so no one kept dying without getting to see the gameplay.

That is what I was thinking in regards to the difficulty of the demo. Of course, the demo available for the press to play could be different from the version that was used during the presentation. However, one would think it would all just be the same build version to simplify things.

If you refer to console gaming as 'welfare boxes' you may have bad opinions.

Not looking forward to the missions where you send advisors having timings.

With my job at max I'll be able to play two hours a night. If I want to send, say, Josie out on a mission, I might have to wait an entire day to be able to talk to her again. Which would suck, especially as I plan to romance her.

With my job at max I'll be a le to play two hours a night. If I want to send, say, Josie out on a mission, I would have to wait an entire day to be able to talk to her again.

There should be ways to cut down the time necessary.

If it's like Mr. Laidlaw said, changing the time forward on your console might work. not recommended method.

But they may require me to spend my in-game gold on things I would rather not all because I don't want to have to wait a 24 hours to be able to talk to someone again.

It would mean I'd have less to spend on weapons etc.

And that's assuming it's a gold issue: if we have to spend inquisition perks/power on shortening the time, then I'll be using them up on it.

That would get extremely tedious!

Isn't that a good thing? Games should require some choice and consequence on resource spending.

I cannot say it enough, btw, but @KarinWeekes and @mel_f_lem are amazing people.

No, no, no, no. YOU are. Well, OK, @mel_f_lem is pretty kickass, too.

But deciding whether I want to wait 24 hours to be able to speak to someone again is not an intended consequence of resource spending.

Choice and consequence should be x or y dying if you send z advisor, not being locked out of their content for an entire play session.

While this doesn't bother me personally (I usually play on casual), I am wary of the anti-BioWare crowd who are just going to use this as yet another excuse to bleat about how the franchise is not a true RPG/will get stomped on by Witcher/Bio has been taken over by literally Hitler.

Hell, it's not like even Baldur's Gate required much tactics beyond ''use X spell to destroy Y protection then right click baddy with your fighters'' on easier difficulty levels for most fights. Normal is difficulty 2 of 4, I don't expect having to deploy my inner Sun Tzu to be able to win.

I mean, I don't really like DA2, but anyone who says that game did not require tactics and management of skill and inventory in Nightmare is talking out of their ass, plain and simple, and I don't care that the combat looked ''too actiony''. That game was way more demanding at the highest difficulty level than Origins ever was.

Make sending your chosen romanceable advisor off on a mission the last decision you do after you've played for the evening. Then they'll be all done by the next day when you start up again.

As a programmer I would be fascinated by how the build the algorithms and structures of the various systems being developed for Inquisition. Like what's the O-notation of your world builder system?! :D

Despite my computer science/programming education and pre-BioWare programming career background, that stuff like notations still make my brain hurt.

TotalXBox's hands-on preview of DAI...

One tidbit...

You'll pause to drink in the sight of your expanding influence, or converse briefly with a trusted acolyte about some trifle, like a dwarven university's request for specimens of a local ore. Then, you'll set off into the wilderness with three legendary warriors at your back, a medieval mobster expanding his or her grip on an ailing realm. They say that absolute power corrupts absolutely. In my case, just a whiff of the stuff was enough. Oh sure, I'm aware that I'm here to save the world, but what's wrong with amassing a little property in the process? Speaking of which, this village would make a very fine display case for my collection of banshee heads.

Okay, I'll leave them up then.

But dayyymn... the streamed gameplay videos we've been watching just don't do the game justice when you see proper screenshot. B)
