But they may require me to spend my in-game gold on things I would rather not all because I don't want to have to wait a 24 hours to be able to talk to someone again.

It would mean I'd have less to spend on weapons etc.

And that's assuming it's a gold issue: if we have to spend inquisition perks/power on shortening the time, then I'll be using them up on it.

That would get extremely tedious!

...it works for Fable when you have rental properties. For lots and lots of gold.

Thanks for the tip, Hrungr! And with that I'll stop side-tracking the twitter thread.

If you are looking to help, I have a single request:

If you see something you like from us, share it with someone.

That's it #DAI

_______

I hope the marketing buzz and preorders are in line with their expectations :/

With the whole controversy regarding BW games and pre-orders in general, I wouldn't be surprised if the general of gamers will follow the "wait and see" approach for DAI.

I don't think it should really, when you see awesome stuff it's just better to show it to people who otherwise won't see it. A lot of us on these forums will anyway :)

I do that! Or try to. Like I'm trying my best to get my best friend to get the game ;-;

Still it's a bit unsettling.

Pre orders are a funny thing that doesn't always totally work as well as it should imo.  For instance I preorder on amazon way back in May because i want the pre order content and the special (not uber special ) edition.  I get an email the other day saying shipment has been delayed until nov. 21st.  So I pre order and for my trouble they are going to ship it two days after offical release?  This type of thing i find annoying.

They're just putting words to what the goal of all marketing is anyway. They really aren't that interested in preaching to the choir. They want to reach people outside the church of Dragon Age and it's nice for them when the choir gets out there too.

Still it's a bit unsettling.

Why would it be unsettling/worrying for them to ask people to recommend the game if we like it? Seems perfectly reasonable.

While I will not go out of my way to make people like it, I would always tell people that, and why, I like a game such as this if it comes up in a conversation.

If I can help more people I know and think would like the game to check it out, and if they like it buy it, to give them fun and more money to Bioware so they can make more games like that, so much the better all around.

The thing that is worrying me is the way Mark phrased it (and I'm probably reading too much into it).

But yeah, it obviously makes sense that they are asking their fans to spread the word. After all, word-of-mouth is the most powerful way to attract new fans.

You are absolutely reading too much into it. :P

He's just asking people to tell their friends how awesome everything looks for Inquisition so that more people will buy it in the end of the day. This happens with every single video game ever in the history of ever and everything that ever ever was, is, and ever will be. Ever. Forever. And Ever.

Lol, I'm being influenced by reading the comments section of some articles. I need to stick to the rule of "Never Read the Comments Section". (Some communities, though... I think I'm traumatized.)

I followed ME3's marketing campaign really closely and don't remember a single instance of devs asking people to personally go out and evangelise the game like this.

Not saying we should be ringing alarm bells or anything, but I did raise one eyebrow.

Before DA2 and ME3 Bioware hadn't to suffer one of the most insane and mental hate campaign that the internet spawned.

DAI may also be a harder sell than ME3.

I can't sum up DAI as snappily as I could ME3. "Blockbuster movie action in a videogame saving the world from gargantuan killer robots" is both concise and has mainstream crossover appeal.

Conversely, DAI leans hard enough on its accumulated lore and EU novels (which I think is a fantastic thing, don't get me wrong) that it's a lot harder to snappily summarize. I'm inferring that difference as being the cause of the evangelization request as opposed to ME3, pinecone.

That, and ME2 was really successful iirc, so the momentum was strong into ME3.

DA2 to DAI, not as much so.
