It's because they were nominated last year, and Gamescom (I think, not 100% sure) has this policy where a game can't go up for nomination two years running.

For award nominations like these I think there are typically certain restrictions/stipulations like, and these are just made up examples since I don't know for sure: game needs to have full access playable at the booth instead of just demo, or within a certain release window, etcetc, in order to be nominated. Which could be why some obvious titles you'd think would be nominated aren't. I poked briefly around the site but couldn't find an awards rules page to confirm.
I think the registration info and prerequisites were here:

Believe I saw this type of info was relayed to CP recently, as he also had questions.

I followed ME3's marketing campaign really closely and don't remember a single instance of devs asking people to personally go out and evangelise the game like this.
Not saying we should be ringing alarm bells or anything, but I did raise one eyebrow.
I assume it's got to do with the fact people hadn't lost faith entirely in Bioware after DA2 yet. ME3 was kind of the knock-out punch to some folks.
I think they're really hoping to draw people back into the fold with DAI, presuming it's as good as it looks. There are a lot of lapsed Bioware fans out there.

Risen 3, huh? I watched an AngryJoe video of him playing it yesterday and he was raging about it. Game looked pretty average/meh. Most of these nominations are pretty head scratching.

Is asking for any information on the bald female human mage in the Enemy of Thedas trailer asking for too much?
Well, she's not bald, she's blonde. There's some information.

I'm really looking forward to having enough time to dig into Invisible Inc later this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW0sxVn_q-o …

But won't you be too busy working on Inquisition's first major expansion?
I'm sure I will be working on something, but it will not be quite as intense as bringing DAI home.

Hmm I believe it was DA Fan who brought this up. But she really could be Gleam from the comics. Her age, hair color, attitude and feiry passion / magic.

Wasn't me!
IF she's Gleam, we did something anti-mage, cuz she's attacking Varric in the trailer. The other guy with her looked kinda tervintery too.

For a game that's been given this much development time, I'll hope that's enough.
And yeah, again, this is all limited vantage points and barely cursory understandings of the field.

Well keep in mind that Bioware has to bounce back from DA2's overall mixed bag of reviews and Mass 3's whole fiasco.
I wouldn't be surprised if Inquisition was fighting an uphill battle. Still, if they make a good enough game, word of mouth will spread and it will sell to DAO levels or even more.

They're working with a new engine and longer hairstyles are harder to work with. If the day ever comes they can do it, hopefully they will.
It appears though that Bioware is very much against hair clipping through armor and weapons.
Makes me wish we'd have our weapons to our sides, rather than on our backs all the time. At least sword-wise.
But then again there are far more weapons than just swords so, yeah.

Yep, the easiest thing in the world to do is win back gamers with a good game. See Devil May Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 4.

They really do need to count on word of mouth spreading.
I never played a TES game before Skyrim;I bought it on a friend's suggestion to make up for how I felt about DA2 and I LOVED Skyrim.
I hope Inquisition isn't the kind of game that makes me go out and get a game from another publisher and developer.

Based on what we've seen it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where this happens. I don't think I've ever been as thoroughly convinced of a game's quality before release as I have been for Inquisition. Obviously it's possible, but extremely unlikely.

The buzz behind Inquisition is definitely not as strong as ME3's, from my limited vantage point anyway. Preorders may not be at their best right now, either. I have to hope it picks up steam in the coming months, has good sell-through, impresses critics and gamers upon release, and ultimately has decent staying power after launch. I don't think it's going to open with DA2 numbers, but it'll surpass them with relative ease if so.
For a game that's been given this much development time, I'll hope that's enough.

Well that's the major thing. Because of the incidents regarding DA2 and ME3, most people are probably holding off until they get confirmation of good reviews. Once that is done, the game will sell well over a longer period of time. I think I had heard something regarding DA2 and DAO regarding sales. DA2 had higher pre-order/opening numbers, but DAO sold better over the long run because of it's high praise and strong word of mouth. Don't discount that factor ![]()

That may well have been the case, but it's worth remembering that Origins released around the middle/end of November, meaning it's after-first week sales were significantly boosted by Christmas shopping. The nice thing is that Inquisition will also benefit from this staying power, regardless of the reasoning.

Gonna be interesting, comparing Origins' week to week sales to Inquisition's.
Side note- misspelled sales at first, autocorrected to "salad"
