Oh man.  I REALLLYYYYY hope she's not race gated.  I want my first playthrough to be a qunari male and I want Cassandra to be my love interest for sure.

 

Does anybody have the original World of Thedas book? Is it work picking up? Is this one all new content or an update of Volume 1? Sorry I know all my questions have probably been asked and answered before.  

i have the original one and if you're interested in the lore of the universe from the human nations to the fade, yeah i would highly recommend it! as for the new one i have no idea what would be in it but since it doesnt come out until 2015 i would guess all new information.

 

also i feel you with the whole qunari wanting cassandra bit, gotten myself used to the idea of josephine just to be safe but I wouldn't call that settling exactly

I've been saying it should be Inquisitrix for ages.  In fact... I think my first post on the new forums used that word.  How funny.

 

But probably only worth a quick comment so as not to derail the thread:

 

Whilst correctly referencing latin roots, the female gender suffix '-trix' is increasingly archaic where the trend is for gender-neutral terms or terms where titles previously used as male are now equally adopted as suitable for female title holders. 

 

Examples: A female manager no longer needs to be a manageress, they may simply be a manager. The term 'Directrix' would once describe a female Director but that term has now long passed as has Prosecutor/Prosecturix. Aviatrix is sometimes used but is also somewhat archaic. Only the term Dominatrix seems to be holding its own.

 

If there is no need to specify gender then the term 'inquisitor' works as a gender-neutral term. Otherwise one might note that the Inquisitor is a male or female inquisitor. Terms such a Femquisitor or Broquisitor may also work just fine.

 

It's much like actor/actress today, in fact.  I guess "inquisitrix" is more potentially useful in DA because i) technically you could view Thedas as still being quite archaic    and ii) it is a simple way for distinguishing, in text form here, between male and female PCs without resorting to ugly-looking words like you just did

Which would make sense if people in Thedas used other archaic terms. Thankfully, they don't.

Quick question - out of curiosity, and if you feel comfortable answering, what sexual preference do you feel isn't being represented in DAI? You mention that there's nothing in the game for you, romance-wise; is this because you would rather have an asexual romance, or something similar?

If you're interested in Thedas' history, religion, politics and culture, I recommend it. It is an excellent overview of the DA universe and is very beautiful to boot (especially the chapter on Thedosian religion in my opinion). My one critique: Be wary of timeline errors though; they were subsequently corrected in the Bioware blog. 

 

The information it contains is good to know in and of itself as well as being helpful for role playing. I'm not sure how the second installment will expand on it but I'm looking forward to finding out.

I don't mind. The orientations I don't feel are being represented is basically all the ones what aren't as set as heterosexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality. So that can be those who are asexual, sexually ambiguous, demisexual, etc. I don't like how Bioware is now set in their "We'll have set sexualities only" viewpoint now since not everyone is like that. But they can't show that or else like with DA2 they will get thing like 'bisexual erasure' comments.

Basic attacks are now mapped to the right trigger on Xbox, at least.

Hopefully we can change the buttons, I'd rather have a be attack and the trigger as jump....
