Oh good, more stuff on my "Have to have or I'll just DIE!" shopping list...that motherf***er is getting looong! I still need Volume 1...haven't been able to convince myself to cough up the dough yet though. Looks like I'll be requesting Barnes and Noble gift cards from everyone I know for my birthday this year. Buying something expensive doesn't count if you're using gift cards...right?

Technically I've only been waiting to find out since I became a Dragon Age fan eight months ago, but I'm going to pretend it's been five years so I can play in the big leagues with the rest of you. That is indeed excellent news.
Well, you're a fan now, and that's all that matters in my book. I've been trying to get my friends to play the games for aaages now. Might have made two new converts because of my over-excited ramblings about Inquisition.

How does a box look elfy? Does it have ribbons on it? Does it give off a sense of victimization?
Could be a quote from Sera if you romance her.

Excellent work!
I've roped a kind-of-ridiculous number of friends into adopting Mass Effect as a favorite series over the past few years, but thus far I think I've only gotten one of them to check out Dragon Age. Two of them were into it before me, though, at least, so that's something.

Jeff- Funny you should say that about Mass Effect, my friends tried to get me into it. I never did though.

I'm about as big into space opera settings as I can possibly be, so I took to it pretty rapidly, myself. Bought a 360 specifically for ME1 since ME2 was coming to PS3 but I immediately read the news and said, "...like I'd play that one first."
Of course, the whole trilogy is available on PS3 these days, but I don't really mind. I got into the fandom a year earlier, and I wouldn't exchange those memories for my $200 back. ![]()

I love space operas too, but after dying over and over in the demo, I gave up. I was a NWN fan, so that just blurred right into DA. I spend so much time with my head in Thedas, it's ridiculous. DA got me back into gaming, so my loyalty runs deep.

I can definitely appreciate the bolded part. Mass Effect did the same for me. Dragon Age simply continues the tradition. ![]()

I think I would probably help the DAI marketing more if I shut up about the game. Everyone who has met me in the last five years must be tired of hearing about it by now
.
(My mother, who has never played a computer game other than Solitaire and Free Cell in her life, has the Inquisition release date in her diary. Just so she'll know why I've stopped answering my phone.)

yeah, I think I scared my friends with my DA: I talk. to the point where one of them used me as an example of being an extreme fan.... I told them about my launch day plans and they both just shock their heads.

I think there will need to be a support group for friends and family of DA:I owners to deal with abandonment issues once Nov 18th rolls around.
I wonder if that'll work on professors, too.

I doubt it. I didn't even get any slack from mine when I had the flu and missed two classes.
When DA2 came out I used my vacation hours, so I basically was getting paid to play a game. This time around, I'm going to be trying to rush my way through Thanksgiving dinner so I can back to the game. ![]()

I haven't played it but seen a lot of footage of Destiny. My opinion: it's an okay shooter with uninspired mission design and an underwhelming story (the way it's told). It's redeeming factor is the social aspect but play it alone and i bet it'll get boring rather quickly. I don't get the hype.
Playing a game is different to watching it, and I don't necessarily think it's fair to judge something as "underwhelming" or "uninspired" if you've yet to experience it in the way it was intended.
But you're entitled to your opinion, of course, and I understand that what amounts to a shooter with RPG elements isn't necessarily going to be (very) popular on a forum for games that focus heavily on story and characters. I could also spend ages explaining why I'm excited for the new Call of Duty, but that would go down like a lead balloon.

I think I influenced a friend in their decision to play DA, he's a big ME fan anyway but I'm pretty sure my constant non stop verbal diarrhoea about DA made him play both games, he went dark for weeks!
Edit: I've done the same with someone else and ME recently too.

Ahhh! The fond memories of having the flu while in college; how I read the LotR series in three days. My eyes were well red indeed!
Have also influenced a few to play DA and ME titles, though I try not to speak of it to my parents as they roll their eyes like teens when I mention most gaming.

I've been trying to get my twin brother to pick up Mass Effect or Dragon Age for quite some time. He relented eventually and picked up ME, but put down the controller after five minutes. Too much talking, he said

This is old news..and spreading it is not a good idea. I'm sure bioware doesn't need the extra damage control.
Old news? Huh?
Did I miss something in the last 24 hours?
