In these recent trailers Cole has been wearing some sort of helmet OVER his floppy hat. Watch them run around as him in the recent gameplay, he's upgraded the hat to some horrible helmet-sunhat combo.

I'm a bit tired of complaints about the placeholder texture to be honest. There's three months to sort it out yet, and we probably only see it because it's the one in default position #1. People can always find something to complain about, can't they?
I just assumed our party's default outfits used that fabric pattern (texture) as a unifying element. I didn't even assume it was "placeholder". It's not like it's low res or distracting (to me, anyway). *shrugs* We can put our party members in a million different outfits. There will be options to change them even if that texture ends up in the game.
I was assuming the fellow with the two daggers on his back with the shiny metal helmet was the Inquisitor mostly due to the presence of the shiny metal helmet.
If it's Cole then it's Cole, but I don't recall any images showing Cole with a shiny metal helmet.
Just to clarify, I think people came to the conclusion that was Cole not from the way he appears in that image, but from the tweet accompanying it that specifically states "Cole drops a little Knockout Powder in the heat of battle." Coupled with him being the most prominent figure in the image and making a gesture as if he had just thrown said Knockout Powder.

I wonder if that extreme pale skintone is intentional or if it's another lighting bug. I hope they fix those before launch. Either way, love seeing what the character creator can do!

I think this is the same hairstyle as that one female elf inquisitor (Mike Laidlaw's, I believe). Interesting to see how much the textures have improved since then! And I'm glad we have messy hairstyles! This one is perfect for my female human warrior!

I'd say the fact that this picture is snapped with a camera rather than being a screenshot does contribute to some of that paleness.

The screenshots of the CC they showed at GamesCom seemed to have pretty normal lighting. I think there's no need to worry!

I'm pretty sure the "placeholder" texture is a customization option for fabric patterns, if that's how customization ends up working. At least that's how I visualize it.

Noice. Figured the Vashoth Inquisitor was going to have a mercenary background.
Some of those seem to be missing images, like most dwarves and female elf warriors. Sad face.
Finally some dirt on backgrounds! I'm feeling more and more compelled to roll with a Female Rogue Elf, despite going with a Human Male Warden and Default Male Hawke in the previous games. "Sent as a spy" and the whole tougher-knocks life stuff sounds a lot cooler to me, plus Traynor voiiiice.
People were worried about the lack? I'd be vastly more concerned with their inclusion.
