@Mike_Laidlaw DA could use some weather, hopefully it rains in Val Royeaux? :)

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw
I think Ferelden should be rainier, too, but that's just me. ;)
__________

(It's possibly worth pointing out that Battlefield 4 is said to have a dynamic weather system as part of Frostbite 3)

"The rain in Rivain falls mainly in the plain!" Posted Image

In all seriousness, it would be nice to have some actual weather effects. I'm not normally one of those "ooo, shiny graphics!" people, but changing weather really adds to my immersion in the world. (So do natural day/night transitions. Is it too much to hope for that?) Even Baldur's Gate had random rain, so there's certainly a Bioware precedent.

LOL So... I'd say without question that Shui Ta is a regular BSN goer, as he wrote the article about Blair Brown's post as well.

Okay... fess up guys... who here works for the Examiner?

We promise, we'll only tease you for it for a few weeks. :D

EDIT: Also, it refers to Allan as THE QA analyst for DA3. Dang, Allan... I didn't know you were manning the ship by yourself?

It really helps in establishing the passage of time, going through seasons. Most people probably had no idea how long the quest in Origins is because nothing ever changes in the world.

I agree, I'd like it if they show change in day and night too. I hope these are some of the things they noticed when they said they were looking at Skyrim.

Hey I started the enhance sales thread so Schumaker owes me bigtime. I prefer cash to a check. rotfl. The pc games need a toolkit, and I have a ps3, my pc died recently, so I won't be playing DAI on a pc. Make the toolkit happen. Whatever it takes.

(Didn't some of the concept art feature weather effects?)

I really hope there'll be some weather effects in DA3.
About the Gamescon tweet, I'd guess regardless when the game will be officially presented, it'll be before Gamescon, so it'd be obvious that there'll be DA3 content on the conference.

I believe it did.For some reason I see Ferelden having similarities to Winterfell, so when I think of Ferelden I think furs and snowy winters. Snow on the Frostbacks would be awesome, I was disappointed that DAO didn't have snow when going to the Frostbacks in the Sacred Ashes quest, that would've been so cool .

Well... if there isn't a reveal already before August 21, I'd say you can pretty much kiss that Fall 2013 release date goodbye. Not that such a thing would be the worst thing ever, its just that revealing a game for the first time and then releasing it mere weeks afterwards is absolute madness.

Are you thinking of LinksOrcana? He reviews games, but I am fairly certain he isn't a journalist in the sense of reporting gaming news.

Has a company ever tried something like that before? Common sense says that it probably would end badly if a company marketed a game that way, but sometimes stuff that seems mad can work.

That might be who I was thinking of. I just remembered there was someone with ties to gaming journalism who was a frequent poster back a while ago.

I can't think of any examples (at least of AAA level games released by major publishers), but I'm hardly an expert on such things.

I'd say it might be crazy enough to work in a normal year, if things were done immaculately and the product was of an undeniably high quality and/or offered something truly unique.

But this year? Any game is going to have trouble making a name for themselves, since the talk of the gaming world right now is consoles, consoles, consoles. Microsoft and Sony have all the spotlight right now with the next gen discussions. And any games they want to release as their flagship titles are going to be pumped and hyped like crazy to sell said consoles.

DA is not a series like Battlefield, CoD  or TES that will sell over 10 million copies and be a big enough name to move their new consoles in large numbers. So trying to compete this year is going to be insanely tough, insane marketing campaign or not.

That's understandable. Even though this year isn't a good year to do something risky I still thing marketing like that can be done, and it like you said, it might be crazy enough to work. But, they'd have to go about it very carefully and they'd have to do some hard work.

Yeah, I agree. But regardless of the relase date, I think that the official presentation will be before Gamescon.

I'm really starting to think that the Examiner is a satire news website now.

Gaider have a weakness to snow! Does that make him a snowpire?

I like the Inquisition symbol, but I'm really wondering why there is a red iris in the eye. It gives me "Eye of Sauron" impression. hmm.

I'm kind of confused by this... A reveal in August wouldn't have the game come out a few weeks later would it? I mean, fall in Canada goes from September 22 to December 20 this year, so it could come out in December or November theoretically, right?

Maybe it symbolizes the blood shed that will be involved in the Inquistion?
