I usually end up playing a rogue my first playthrough, just so I don't miss anything.  That chest at the beginning of DA2 was the bane of my existence when I played any other class.

Well, that will be changed by DAI, since we know that each class now will have a unique ability required to access 'secret' stuff.

Rogues can unlock chests, warriors can smash gates or similar, and mages can 'energise' to do stuff like repair small bridges or light veilfire.

So unless you have at least one member of the two classes you aren't yourself you will miss small stuff now.

huh?  From just the previous page in this thread.

@Mike_Laidlaw, if I come across a locked door or chest in DAI and have no rogue, can I just blast it open with a magic as you might expect?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

No. If you want locks picked, take a rogue in one of your party's 4 slots, just like the previous DA games.

Maybe doors and gates behave differently? I do remember seeing Cassandra bash down a gate with her shield in a demo from a while ago, unless that ability got removed between then and now.

100F is fairly regular there, right? Try to imagine 50F. Maybe a touch chilly there? Now try to imagine 0F. Now try to imagine -50F. Welcome to Canadian prairie winters.

NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Which is interesting given what we saw in Redcliffe. The only way to open the door to Leliana's torture chamber was to pick the lock, which means you need a rogue. I doubt they'd screw you over like that though, which means there might be more than one path to arrive at the same destination, which is also cool.

Whoa, look at those Inquisitors! I agree with everyone saying that the helmets looked photoshopped in though ... horrible!

I can't wait to play as an Elven Mage. Only about 3 months left ...

IIRC, there was another door to the chamber, but you had to go all the way around to the other side to get access to it...

It's okay if you can't answer: so we ARE Tal-Vashoth, and not Vashoth? Or is Tal-Vashoth being used for ease? Thank you. :)

David Gaider @davidgaider

We'll use Tal-Vashoth, because trying to explain the difference is a bit too far down that particular rabbit hole.

Anyone notices Qunaris' white eyes? I hope it's a bug.

ANYTHING to simplify the qunari naming would be wonderful as I've grown tired of the constant bickering here over terminology when the average DA gamer wouldn't care.

:( Too far down what rabbit hole? Does "Vashoth" as a word still exist now or is that being "simplified" away?

We've seen mages shooting their main attack from both a hand and staff in gameplay. Will this depend on specialization?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

No. The hand is an old animation.

User

are there single handed axes in dragon age inquisition?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

Yeah.

If choose elf as my race can I remove my dalish tattoos?

No, but you can make them pretty faint.

I always ended up taking one with me to keep the party "balanced".

Stupid OCD...

I AM the rogue...though sometimes I'll take another along, usually as an addition ranged player to my party's mage. Except when I brought Isabela along, the synchronized rogue attack was always fun (cue the synchronized swimming music)..and resulted in a surprisingly quick battle. But all in all I try to keep my party balanced (OCD here as well).

I'm kinda surprised there isn't a 'no tattoo' option for the Dalish PC. I guess they want to adhere closer to lore this time around...

The facial tattoos are a part of Dalish culture. IIRC getting them is a rite of passage when they reach adulthood

I hope the game won't be delayed again till christmas,Evil Aliens will do anything to get more money.
Evil Aliens don't deserve to have awesome team like BaldWare.

You realize that delays end up costing EA more money, as the development costs for the game keep ticking while Bioware works in it? The fact that EA have been okay with delaying the game twice so far, once for an entire year, means that they seem to understand that a team like Bioware needs time to work their magic. If they keep that up, why wouldn't EA deserve Bioware? Without EA, no Dragon Age Inquisition, or Mass Effect 4. That simple.

The Inquisitor is said to be a non-specific age between 20 and 40.

The Dalish receive their vallaslin (face tattoo) at 18.

It makes sense that the Dalish Inquisitor has vallaslin.
