The Inquisitor is said to be a non-specific age between 20 and 40.

The Dalish receive their vallaslin (face tattoo) at 18.

It makes sense that the Dalish Inquisitor has vallaslin.

Sure. But in DAO you could play a casteless dwarf or Dalsih without tatoos.

It didn't really make sense lore wise , well you could headcannon some reasons ...

Even noble humans tends to not have facial tatoos , as far as I can remember, and you could have some.

I know vallasin is coming of age for Dalish, where does it say 18 is the Dalish age of adulthood?

So many bugs on the wall, so many bugs. Take one down, fix it up, suddenly I have more bugs on the wall...

Mandy Jacek @WaywardHumanoid

(That tweet can be extra terrifying if you don't regard it to graphical bugs and as actual bugs instead...)

"When a Dalish elf comes of age, they prepare to gain the vallaslin... If a young elf cannot tolerate the pain of the blood writing, they are deemed unready to undertake the responsibilities of an adult....it appears many young Dalish receive their vallaslin when they are around 18 years of age, or so." -taken from the wiki

EDIT: It would seem I got ninja'd.

Well, Inquisition is a new game, so the developers are trying a different approach to this - one that adheres more closely to the lore which they have already established. Personally, I like it. Lore shouldn't be just background fluff.

hope there will be more tattoos this time, and they actually give you a description of what each represents in the Character Creator.

Pretty sure Origins has something about "It not being a shame if the Elf can not bear the pain, for the ancestors took sometimes centuries to come of age".

This applies to Dalish who are not yet ready for adulthood.

The Dalish warrior/rogue is a hunter while the Dalish mage is the First to his or her Keeper.

Clearly, they were ready.

Unfortunately they've already said there won't be any descriptions of the tattoos in the CC...

Not saying they weren't.

Just said that having Vallaslin doesn't automatically mean "I'm over 18", rather than "I'm ready to be an Elven adult."

I made a tattoo thread so this doesn't get too derailed (anymore than it already is).

I think it was gaider who said specializations and outfits won't just be noticed, the first because it's not obvious someone is an assassin or Templar and creates all sorts of little tweaks to address, and the second because that would be an absolute NIGHTMARE.

Sounds like the difference between Vashoth and Tal-Vashoth is more complicated than we realized.

oh.

so, if you're a Templar, people won't address you as such?
